(2 Peter 1:20) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (Isaiah 28:10) For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: (Isaiah 28:13) But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?
Phil; does HE know you?
Matthew 7:
21“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
ELSIE, does He know YOU??? BTW, how was the sermon at church today?
Not false
After 7 years (the last prophetic week of Daniel's 70 week prophecy) of ministering TO THE LOST SHEEP OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL, and their final rejection of Christ, in the stoning of Stephen, their fate, AS A CHOSEN PEOPLE, was sealed. They are done, as a group. It's over.
God gave them EXACTLY 490 years of probation. The Stoning of Stephen was the very last straw. They rejected Christ and his prophet.
However, individually, salvation can still be obtained through faith in Christ, just like anyone else.
"Lay not this sin. Literally, “do not reckon to them this sin.” Stephen could do little with respect to his persecutors’ past sins, but he had a personal right to request forgiveness for their present transgression. In pleading for them he revealed how fully he had acquired the forgiving spirit that had characterized his Master (cf. Luke 23:34)".
SDA Bible Commentary
——>No more literal Jew, no more literal Jewish sign.
As a CHOSEN PEOPLE. Do you understand that distinction? Plenty of “literal, individual” Jews accepted Christ. But as a chosen people, their special place in history came to an end.
I feel you aint gettin' it...
We ALL, every one of us,
is a hypocrite.
And Jesus would be the first to tell us.
And of course, Paul states that there are literally now no distinctions in Christ believers/Abraham’s seed/heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:
26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
——>And Jesus would be the first to tell us.
He used the word, Himself, in scripture.
——>I feel you aint gettin’ it...
Maybe it’s you who “aint gettin’ it...
Ever notice, too, that when Catholics find a doctrine they wish to defend with Scripture, they go to great lengths to appeal to the Greek, like with Mary being graced like no one else?
But when someone brings up *petra* and *Petros* and appeals to the Greek, suddenly the Greek is of no consequence?
——>Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Also mentioned in Hebrews 8 and 10. I quoted it in post 1757.
Ratified by the blood of Christ, at his death on the cross. Confirmed with the house of Israel and Judah, from the initiation of Christ’s ministry, to the stoning of Stephen, EXACTLY 7 years. The gospel message ONLY went to the Jews for the first 7 years, 1 prophetic week, the LAST week of Daniel’s 70 year prophecy. As a people, they REJECTED the gospel. Their chosen status, AS A PEOPLE, was then forever striped from them. Now, those in Christ, as a CONTINUATION OF “Israel” are under the new covenant. Of course, that includes any Jews (or anyone) that accept Christ as their Messiah and Savior.
See posts 1758, 1765, 1766.
I’ll post the link, again, to the Daniel’s 70 week article, because it’s THAT important. All of you have it wrong. That goes double for Elsie. You cannot rip 7 years out of a continual, chronological time prophecy and magically transport it >2000 years into the future (no false doctrine PTR). Just like the line from the movie “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, ... “They’re digging in the wrong place”.

(A) “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city,”
- This sets the time period at 70 weeks. It is generally accepted here that you must use the day = year prophecy formula (Num 14:34, Ezek 4:6), yielding a time period of 490 years from start to completion.
- The word determined here actually means “cut off”. This 70 weeks are cut off from, or begin at the same time as, the larger 2300 day (year) prophecy of Dan 8:14, which has as it’s focus the cleansing of the sanctuary in heaven, the beginning of Judgment. So both the 70 week (490 year) and the 2300 day (year) prophecy begin at the same date. Note that you can not arbitrarily apply the year for a day principle in one case and not another, you must remain consistent. Dan 8:26 strongly hints that the 2300 day prophecy in verse 14 is not just 2300 days, but many days more than it literally indicates. This would also support using year instead of day.

Not false. THERE IS NO MORE LITERAL ISRAEL. Please note 36.
31. A new covenant. The Israelites had failed to meet the divine requirements because they endeavored to be righteous through their own futile strivings. Recognizing this inherent human tendency, the Lord promised “a new covenant.” By this arrangement man becomes holy through faith in the Redeemer and Sanctifier (see Gal. 3; Heb. 8:8–10; see on Eze. 16:60). It was God’s desire that the returned exiles should enter heart and soul into this “new covenant” experience. But the nation failed to measure up to its opportunities (see pp. 29–32).
33. Write it in their hearts. God’s law was not to be simply an external standard of righteousness. It was to be a spring of action to guide and control human conduct (see Rom. 8:1–4; 2 Cor. 3:3–6).
34. Shall teach no more. The failure of God’s servants in large part to instruct the people in the real knowledge of God, because of the perfunctory performance of the observances and ceremonies of the old covenant, was to be corrected by the intimate acquaintance and fellowship believers would have with their Lord through the faith stimulated by the new covenant (see John 6:45, 46; 1 Cor. 2:6–16; Col. 1:27, 28).
35. Ordinances of the moon. God refers to the surety and permanence of natural law and order as a guarantee of the surety and permanence of the “everlasting covenant” (see Jer. 32:40; cf. Isa. 55:3; Eze. 37:26). Lord of hosts. See on ch. 7:3.
36. Seed of Israel. This promise, not fulfilled in literal Israel (see on v. 31), will be fulfilled in spiritual Israel, now the true “seed” of Abraham (see Gal. 3:29).
37. Can be measured. In the same manner as the new covenant sets forth the divine stability and permanence (see vs. 35, 36), it likewise emphasizes the truth that the human intellect cannot plumb the depth of the knowledge of the divine purpose in regard to God’s people (see Rom. 11:33).
SDA Bible Commentary
What laws does Christ write in your mind and heart?
That very same question (if not the same wording) was asked long ago:
Matthew 22:34-46Notice that the question was asked by one of those who apparently had the assurance of the LAW.34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Purty good; as I've already used parts of it in another thread.
'Tis a worthy quest; for...
Matthew 6:15 NIVBut if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Sadly, some of us tend to read it as:
...ye are all the children of God by faithfully following all the LAW HE has written.
