A retired minister, David Zandstra, who was arrested in Georgia earlier this week, charged with murder in the slaying of an eight-year-old girl whose remains were found in Pennsylvania almost a half-century ago, is now being investigated over the disappearance of a four-year-old girl from California.
Fairfield Police Department are reexamining a 1991 California cold case which saw the disappearance of Amanda 'Nikki' Campbell in the Bay Area.
Campbell's case is extremely similar to that of Gretchen Harrington, who vanished while heading to Bible school in Pennsylvania in 1975.
Zandstra, 83, was arrested for her kidnapping and killing on Monday, but he is also believed to have lived in the area close to where Campbell disappeared, 16 years later.
Campbell was abducted by a stranger and vanished as she was on her way to a friend's house on December 27, 1991. Her body was never found.
Police are now looking to see if there is a link between Zandstra and Campbell releasing an age-progressed photo of what Campbell may look like today.
According to the State of California Department of Justice, her disappearance is still treated as a missing persons case.
DNA from Zandstra is now being compared to material from open cases in Pennsylvania and elsewhere, authorities said.
The sample will be be submitted to CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) often used by law enforcement.
It will be compared to open cases in Pennsylvania and across the nation to see if Zandstra is potentially connected with any other cold cases.
Zandstra lived in Texas and Georgia after leaving Pennsylvania.
The Christian Reformed Church lists him as having ministered in New Jersey, California and Texas before retiring in 2005.
Authorities say they are concerned that there may have been more victims and urge anyone with information to contact investigators.

Oh yea he's done this before and yes these places need to check cold case files
Police departments should be willing to share information with other police departments.
“... retired minister.”
He may have held a job in the church. But that’s ultimately irrelevant. If he’s guilty, he needs to be held legally accountable for his crimes.
What is a “Reformed” church?
I asked that on my first thread of this and several people explained it here:

Gotta do, due diligence on your pastors or church “leaders”. If they fall out of line or don’t follow the Word of God the red flags have to go up. Too many church bodies ignore their pastors idiosyncrasies and later find out the pastors were nutcases.
