Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 24

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

36 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41 And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate it in their presence.

44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God
You Alone are LORD,
You Alone are Sovereign.
You Reign Over All Of Your Creation,
All of Nature Sings of Your Glory!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise
Awesome in Power
And Wonderful Beyond Measure!
How Magnificent that You have Chosen to Manifest Yourself
In Such Wonders!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

An excerpt from an article at the FoxNews website:

>
"I’ve heard from countless Americans who are concerned our justice system is being weaponized against President Biden’s political opponents while his son gets preferential treatment," Sen. Pete Ricketts, R-Neb., told Fox News Digital in a statement.

Heavenly Father,
we know that Thou art a righteous, fair, and just Sovereign who intercedes on behalf of those who are unfairly treated whether they be rich or poor. We have learned this from many passages of Thy Word such as are found in Isaiah.

Currently, millions of God-fearing Americans grieve for our morally polluted land because smug and arrogant elitists have managed to worm their way into the nooks and crannies of the executive branch of government. These "children of Belial" have connived for years to wrest control of the levers of power. Such people have not the slightest regard to a higher law and use their position to pervert a fair application of justice. They persecute the righteous for trivial matters and block the prosecution of affairs far weightier. We consider the Scripture:

Honest scales and balances belong to the LORD; all the weights in the bag are of his making.
(Proverbs 16:11)

They number in the thousands and have allies in all levels of academia, all venues of journalism, and all expressions of entertainment. As mentioned earlier, our culture is polluted. Yet we are reminded of the deliverance of Jerusalem when surrounded by Sennacherib's overwhelming force of 185,000, and the wonderful revival of that capitol under Josiah.

We are encouraged by admonitions throughout the Word that our prayers are heard and are powerful.
So we reverently appeal to Thee to oppose and defeat these forces and restore virtue to our land.

Our appeal is made via the stirling character and finished atonement of the Savior.

In the waning years of Mom's life, she lost touch with a lot of people. They, too, were getting older and so became more isolated as the years went by. Though all of them probably were in constant touch with their own children, the children were unaware of their parents' friends and acquaintances. Mom often wondered, "What ever happened to so-and-so?"

Even though I lived in Florida, I would call Mom every day around 10:00AM. We would chat for hours, while I surfed the net at my desktop. Sometimes, Mom would say "Look up Jim D. Find out if he's still alive." I would type in the name, age, and location of the person. Nine times out of ten, what would come up on the screen would be an obituary. "I'm sorry, Mom. Jim passed away five months ago."

This happened more than once. Betty, Jim, Dodi, Kay, and many other of Mom's childhood friends has passed on. Mom knew it was inevitable, because everybody dies, but she was sad that nobody had told her. I explained that, in the throes of their grief, her friend's loved ones couldn't even think straight, much less look up their parent's long list of friends from the past.

That's when Mom explained that it wasn't like that in the past. Obituaries appeared in the Sunday Newspapers, and everybody went there FIRST when they got the paper, to find out if they needed to attend a wake or a funeral, or at least send condolences. An Irish Wake in Boston could take three days and have visitors standing in line a block long to pay their respects. Those who did not attend the actual Funeral made sure they paid their respects at the Wake and didn't forget to sign the guest book.

Mom said, "You can't remember EVERYBODY who showed up at the Wake, but you sure remember who DIDN'T."

Reading the obits on Sunday and planning the week accordingly was so prevalent in Boston that The Death Notices in the Boston Sunday Globe were colloquially known as "THE IRISH SPORTS PAGE".

Today's practice of placing obits on the Internet instead of in the newspaper isolated an entire generation of people. Unless a person had a computer, was hooked up to the Internet, knew how to use a search engine, and looked up a specific person by name, age, and locality, he or she would never know if an old friend had passed away. Computers, which were supposed to make life easier for people, have actually made it more difficult. What was promised as a way of uniting people has actually isolated them.

There were no Newspaper Obituaries or Internet in the time of Jesus. However, there was no question that the Teacher from Galilee was dead. He had been executed in the most horrible, painful way, stripped naked, beside a public highway. He was not executed in a secret dungeon like John the Baptist. Nor was it possible that He had gone into a coma and was placed in the tomb alive but unconscious. He had been exposed fully, so it was not a case of mistaken identity. When the Centurion pierced His side with a lance, "Blood and Water" came out. This was a medical proof that Jesus was already dead before He was taken down off the cross. Because He was already dead, the Romans didn't have to break His legs to end His suffering. This was in fulfillment of the Scriptures as well.

Dr. Luke gives us a wonderful description of the Resurrected Jesus. He still has the wounds in His hands and feet, and the lance wound in His side. He invites the Disciples to examine these, so they will know that He is not an impostor.

Jesus does something else here. He explains to the Disciples that all of this was predicted in the Torah, the Psalms, and the Prophets. The Scriptures which we now call The Old Testament, are full of phrases and predictions that The Messiah would have to suffer and die for the sins of the world. He "opened their minds" up to what those passages meant.

But, insight alone was not enough to spread the word. Jesus tells His disciples to wait until they receive Power from On High to accomplish this task. Dr. Luke is laying the foundation for his next awesome Book, The Acts of the Apostles.

But let's not rush things. After Luke's Gospel comes the Gospel of John, which we will begin begin next Monday. Fasten Your Seat Belts.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Amen !!! <><

Psalm 11

To the leader. Of David.

1 In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to me,
‘Flee like a bird to the mountains;*
2 for look, the wicked bend the bow,
they have fitted their arrow to the string,
to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart.
3 If the foundations are destroyed,
what can the righteous do?’

4 The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord’s throne is in heaven.
His eyes behold, his gaze examines humankind.
5 The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked,
and his soul hates the lover of violence.
6 On the wicked he will rain coals of fire and sulphur;
a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the Lord is righteous;
he loves righteous deeds;
the upright shall behold his face.

Dr. Luke gives us a wonderful description of the Resurrected Jesus. He still has the wounds in His hands and feet, and the lance wound in His side. He invites the Disciples to examine these, so they will know that He is not an impostor.

It's been suggested that the great amount of focus on the doubt of Thomas (particularly, the entire group of disciples did not doubt) was a type, a foreshadowing, a preview of the last few days when Christ appears to formerly unbelieving Israel. Those wounds substantiate His claims and prove who He is. They finally accept the crucified Savior as their Lord and God but grieve over their part in the crucifixion.

And one shall say unto him, ‘What are these wounds in thine hands?’ Then he shall answer, ‘Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.’

Zechariah 13:6
And I will pour upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him as one who is in bitterness for his firstborn.
