Origins Myths and the Erosion of Ethics: Evolutionary Scientists Left Groping for Meaning
PatriotandLiberty ^ | 2023 | Philip Bell

Are biblical creationists backward folk, doing their utmost to explain away allegedly powerful scientific evidences in favour of deep time, big bang, abiogenesis (life from non-life), and neo-Darwinian evolution? That is certainly the perception among many people. For example, Richard Dawkins couldn’t resist a dig at creationists in his most recent book, Flights of Fancy:

“There are still some people who don’t believe in evolution, in spite of the overwhelming evidence in its favour. They want to believe that bird and bat wings, like plane wings, are produced by deliberate creative design: design by some kind of supernatural master engineer. They’re called creationists. You won’t find them in proper universities. But there are plenty of them in less educated circles.”1

The idea that all that is evolved out of nothing spontaneously is lunatic. A balanced machine-like world comprised of billions of functioning systems including parallel systems (male and female) is all merely a series of accidents dependent upon chance over millions of years is itself statistically ludicrous.

I read something many years ago that went like this;
“Saying that the world we know resulted from a big bang is like saying an explosion in a print shop resulted in the Webster’s unabridged dictionary.”
That stuck with me ever since.

Evolution is the only explanation that they have that does away with God. They can’t let go of it until they come up with something else....and they are looking.

As time passes, this theory has failed yet they hold onto it.

I think the more people that atheists can get on board, the more secure they feel in their own unbelief. I remember reading something Peter Hitchens said (his brother was renowned atheist evolutionist Christopher). Peter was like minded with his brother until he had an amazing conversion to God. He said that down deep every atheist fears they are wrong. They wont admit it, but they do.

I think the best method to confront people you know who claim that evolution is fact, is to have them explain in detail how it works. Ask questions. Why are apes still exactly the same today as they were thousands of years ago. Why have only humans advanced materially, such as from huts to skyscrapers? Where are the in between species? There are so many many questions you can ask to get people to think.

Hugh Ross, John Lennox, Tim Keller, Teilhard de Chardin, and many others. Many theologians are drawn away by evolution. Some because they fear name-calling and rejection and don’t want to suffer. Some because of intellectual pride, love of status, and wealth; others because they imagine they see power in this conception to change the Word of God in ways suitable to themselves.

Dawkins is such a pompous person.
Him, and others just won’t give up the idea that God doesn’t exist. What is in the life of the mind that has to have a non-existent God, anyway?
George Wald, Nobel laureate, in his famous statement(loosely quoted here) about “given enough time, the improbable becomes possible, and the possible becomes probable” was a statement which carried lots of “weight”...However, he goes on to say that he believes in evolution, even though he realizes it is “scientifically impossible” because he doesn’t believe God exists. These statements are on a website... Just search for “top 25 George Wald quotes” The intellectual arrogance of these men are the stakes which are being driven through their body and souls and are dooming them to a Godless eternity.

Agreed. But the "intellectual arrogance of these men are the stakes which are being driven through their body and souls and are dooming them to a Godless eternity." are the stakes driven through an entire godless people, and by extension, a godless society, who run after intellectually arrogant God-hating theorizers.

In Isaiah's time, a majority of Israelis ran after apostate Rabbis and Culture leaders who preferred the evolutionary worldview of Canaanite gods and goddesses who were really fallen powers. Left behind was a remnant who held fast to the God Who spoke creation and life into existence.

We can see the parallels between then and now.

I read Dawkins’ Blind Watchmaker 25 yrs ago. Such childish illogic on page after page.

According to the narrative put out by arrogant, pompous evolutionary theorizers, it is Christians who are illogical, backward, and stupid. So any Christian who can comprehend and see through the theory to its underlying "childish logic" must of necessity come under the most vicious attack in an effort at terrorizing them into shutting up since they fear such thinkers.

When one considers a wise and omnipotent creator, one has to wonder why the creator took time to create, from nothing, 400,000 species of beetles; 1300 species of bats and 10,000 species of birds?

The same creator, who out of nothing, created a man then a woman and placed them in a beautiful garden and promised them eternal life, but were tempted by a ‘talking snake’ and subsequently, original sin was passed down to this day.

Regarding an ‘ex nihilo ‘creation, I submit that what can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

Obviously then, regarding evolution by chance from nothing, we can send it to the trash bin of fantastical myths since no one has ever seen, heard, touched, or in any way sensed this unseen magical energy. Nor has anyone ever seen evidence of it having 'changed' dinosaurs into birds or fish into apes into man.

What is historically known about evolution is that from ancient times it has been known as a mystical energy, often spoken of as serpent power, connected to reincarnation

If Creation ITSELF isn’t evidence enough for you there is no evidence that would be enough. Critiquing Gods Creation in the number of beetles and birds is rather outside any man’s pay grade. Doesn’t the world function quite well with the number of beetles and birds it has?

Dawkins is quoted as writing: [Christians] want to believe that bird and bat wings, like plane wings, are produced by deliberate creative design: design by some kind of supernatural master engineer.

I say: Evolutionists want to believe that bird and bat wings, unlike plane wings, are produced by completely random events: that from this chaos or random events emerged order and life and beauty and love.

I came to believe in a creator when I realized the impossibility of either slow or fast evolution. Neither is possible because of the amount of coordination between various parts of a system.

The eye would not work were it not for the existence of an optical nerve and a part in the brain to receive and analyze the information.

Saying the eye could have started off as a little light-perceiving dip and evolved from there leaves out the necessity for the other parts to “evolve” *in tandem* with the eye in order for the eye to have any evolutionary advantage.

Doesn’t work! Makes no sense! A point which even Darwin himself admitted: If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed, which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down. But I can find no such case.

Back when we had so little knowledge of anatomy, he could possibly be excused for thinking that, but nowadays, we know enough to see that his critique was correct.

Understanding that there must be a creator showed me too that he must be good, because he also created beauty and love and gave us the ability to appreciate these things and to even participate in them.

It was several years between this moment of understanding and my becoming a Christian, and later on Catholic, but this understanding changed my view of the world.
