Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 22
Jesus Arrested
47 While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, 48 but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
49 When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?” 50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
51 But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.
52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders, who had come for him, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs? 53 Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour—when darkness reigns.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Abba Father,
Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD, Our God!
King of the Universe,
Ancient of Days,
Rock of All Ages!
It is You, and You Alone,
Who Created All Things,
And You Alone Who Know The End from The Beginning,
And the Beginning from The End.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

This is a small thing...almost too small to even bring up, but it happened just last night, and it hurt. A "regular" showed up at the Open Mike and sat at our table. She is older than I am by a year, but acts a lot "older". Anyway, she ordered a diet coke and proceeded to eye my hummus platter. I grabbed an extra plate, put some of my bread on it, and motioned to the hummus. After all, there was enough there for two and why not? I got up and did my set, which went longer than usual because it was a small crowd. I like when that happens, because I can get into some nice music jams that way. The crowd enjoyed my set and I felt great, even though my knee was killing me. I limped back to the table, and there she was, circulating a meme on her phone, passing it around the table, that was contemptuous of people who live in Trailer Parks. It was just nasty. At least FOUR of the beloved musicians that frequent this Open Mike live in the same mobile home park that I do. The meme was uncalled-for, insensitive, and insulting.
I spoke up:
"That's Not Funny."
The woman, who is hearing impaired, pretended not to hear me and turned her back.
Now, the perceived insult was nothing compared to the betrayal of our Lord, by Judas. It was ironic though, that the betrayal was preceded by the two people involved dipping their flat bread into the same dish. I am sure the woman will be showing up at the next event, clueless that anyone might be somewhat annoyed by her behavior. Because she never actually sings or plays an instrument, her behavior may be motivated by jealousy or a feeling of inadequacy.
(There I go, trying to make excuses for her, just like theologians and apologists have been making excuses for Judas for the last 2000 years!)
Although Jesus was not surprised by Judas, it was still a painful betrayal. Peter, on the other hand, was surprised, and acted impetuously. Instead of actually helping Jesus, though, he only succeeded in cutting off some poor slave's ear. Right in the middle of His arrest, Jesus heals Malchus the slave's ear, without any request or prayer coming from Malchus himself. This healing didn't involve an anointing of oil, a petition, or a Prayer of Faith. Jesus just took care of it on the spot.
Sometimes He does it that way.

Psalm 65
To the leader. A Psalm of David. A Song.
1 Praise is due to you,
O God, in Zion;
and to you shall vows be performed,
2 O you who answer prayer!
To you all flesh shall come.
3 When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us,
you forgive our transgressions.
4 Happy are those whom you choose and bring near
to live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
your holy temple.
5 By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
O God of our salvation;
you are the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas.
6 By your* strength you established the mountains;
you are girded with might.
7 You silence the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
the tumult of the peoples.
8 Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by your signs;
you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.
9 You visit the earth and water it,
you greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
you provide the people with grain,
for so you have prepared it.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
settling its ridges,
softening it with showers,
and blessing its growth.
11 You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with richness.
12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
the hills gird themselves with joy,
13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
the valleys deck themselves with grain,
they shout and sing together for joy.

Hallelujah and amen indeed!
Even amidst that night of betrayal and Peter’s impetuous lashing out with the sword, we are given a lesson.
Be mindful of how you wield the sword, you may render someone incapable of hearing.
Even so,Jesus can still bring healing.
