In that case, wouldn't it be silly to pray at all? By your reasoning, God cannot be swayed, and so would do what He will without regard to anyone's prayers.

Point out Moses pleading for people, and you've opened the door to Mary doing the same.
The angel told her what was going to happen to her. She didn’t have any choice in the matter.
She could do it in a spirit of submission or not, but it was going to happen.
And do you honestly think that God did not already know how she was going to respond even if He did need per permission?
Or do you think that there would be a Jewish virgin who would say *No* to being told she would be the mother of the Messiah?
God’s plan of salvation did not hinge on any one person’s cooperation.
Luke wasn’t even alive or anywhere close. He couldn’t have recorded the interaction.
Part of the reason we pray is to ask God for things/needs/desires. As He chooses to answer or not this helps conform us to His will. You may think the job you’re asking for is what you want but He has a better one for you.
God commands us to pray so no, it is not silly to pray.
