It's ludicrous that Jesus would be swayed by anyone into acting in a way outside the will of God.

In that case, wouldn't it be silly to pray at all? By your reasoning, God cannot be swayed, and so would do what He will without regard to anyone's prayers.

Part of the reason we pray is to ask God for things/needs/desires. As He chooses to answer or not this helps conform us to His will. You may think the job you’re asking for is what you want but He has a better one for you.

The purpose of prayer is to lead us to HIS WILL,

Not his will to ours.

Agreed? Something about “thy will be done.”
