I’ll bite..
Where Did Davids/Solomons temple Stand?
๐ x2
โKnowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. They deliberately ignore this fact, that by the word of God heavens existed long ago, and an earth formed out of water and by means of water, through which the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist have been stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men
But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow about his promise as some count slowness, but is forbearing toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up.โ
In context, Peter here is not talking about a rapture that will snatch believers from the earth before some tribulation and earthly millennial reign of Christ, but about his Second Coming at the end of time. The scoffers of his time were trying to discount the fact that Christ would come at all and so feel free to continue their depraved lives. When Christ comes for his Church, he will only come once, at which time the dead will rise, those believers still on earth taken up, and then immediately the judgement and eternity.
I should add that Peter is quoting Psalm 90, specifically verse 4: "For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, or as a watch in the night." The whole Psalm is about the eternalness of God compared to the frailty and passing nature of man. If Peter was applying this to a future millennial reign, he would be guilty of severe out of context proof-texting.
You do not have to hold to the novel and convoluted rapturist End Times schema to benefit from Peter's warning. Christ can come at any time, and it behooves us to be ready at all times.
Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again. Amen. Alleluia.
You aren’t Peter much less Jesus.
Neither is anybody else on this forum, self included.
Dismissing people by namecalling and pigeonholing them is not indicative of good faith discussion.
The author of the OP preemptively dismisses as worthless anyone who disagrees with him.
We can do better.
I disagree ... preemptively dismissing any disagreement with an obvious pejorative is absolutely name-calling.
Scoffers who mock prophecy also make a mockery of the cross since that also at one point was prophecy as well (Psalm 22 & Isaiah 53).
The word is very appropriate.
That in itself is very telling.
I’m betting they were also heavily into Replacement Theology (another doctrine of demons). Just a hunch?
Man would that send a message if it happened on Tisha B’Av.
Maranatha!
That message that Peter wrote towards the end of his life was aimed at all people of the Church. But he does mentions “Last Days Scoffers”, which could easily mean then (Dispensation of Grace) or now as we edge ever closer to The Lord’s Return.
Israel is a nation again after 1,878 years of being dispersed. That is the “super sign” that we’re close..
But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.
1 Thessalonians 5:4
Some people, God willing blinds to the truth. Its right in your face yet people still think it isn’t happening
It was on the little 10โ12-acre ridge south of the Temple Mount, just outside the Old City walls.
You seem to forget that Jesus scolded, hounded, and was highly upset at Pharisees and other “Law/Covenant” holders who were so prideful and boastful in their “knowledge” of Scripture that they knew not the times of their Messiah as written in Micah and Daniel (Prophesied to the DAY of his triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Nisan 10, which is conveniently the same exact date the children of Israel entered the Promised Land).
See Luke 19:44
The Lord wants His Children to watch. That’s what me and probably .001% of Christians around the world are doing (Luke 18:8, Mark 13:35-37, Matthew 24:42)
Does this bother you?
Amen brother!
Agreed ๐
Jesus’ soon appearance will be that of
King of Kings!!!
.
As a Western Culture we have laws and rights but the coming KINGDOM will be ruled by The LORD of Lords !
Those Enimies of Christ will perish,
No ifs ands or buts.
I guess Jesus really blew it then when He called the pharisees a brood of vipers, children of hell, and white washed tombs, for starters.
Besides, it's the Holy Spirit who inspired Scripture and used the term *scoffers*.
Truth in your post!
The King of Kings sitting on His Throne will be a sight I cannot wait to behold.
The City of David? -—IIRC
.
It’s a Fascinating place to be sure.
The author of the OP isn't Jesus. Neither are the rest of us.
Thatโs what me and probably .001% of Christians around the world are doing
Chest-thumping and namecalling do not reflect well on your point of view.
But go ahead ... you do you.
