Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Luke 10
At the Home of Martha and Mary
38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[f] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
We Thank You For Your Glorious Word,
Such Words of Comfort and Strength!
The Waters indeed Roar and are troubled,
The Truth is Indeed Our Shield and Our Buckler,
But YOU ARE The TRUTH.
The Mountains Indeed Shake
with the Troubles of this World.
But YOU, Oh LORD, are Our Refuge and Our Fortress,
Our God, In Whom We Trust!
Though the Whole Earth seems to rage against us,
We Do Not Fear,
For You Are Lord Over All.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

In some last minute preparations for her son's wedding, Sis and I went to the MALL. We already had our dresses, but we were looking for something to wear in our hair, and maybe some earrings. The Mall has several stores which just sell "notions" of this type.
The first store was very trendy, but the designs were too immature for our needs. Then we went into another store, and were confronted by walls full of HAIR. It turned out to be a specialty store for African-American Women. I was awed by the amount of different styles of wigs, wiglets, falls, braids, weaves, and dreadlocks that filled the store. We waved politely and left the store. The famous Lingerie Store was next. Oh Dear....some of the underwear on display didn't have enough fabric to cloth a Barbie Doll. YIKES! Time to move on.
The next store displayed some pretty scarves in the window, so we figured that they might have a nice little headpiece that would look good, but not be in competition with the Bride. We walked in, and were instantly appalled by displays of Burkas, Abiyas, Chadours, Hijabs, and Face Veils. EXIT, STAGE RIGHT!
OK...what next? A little kiosk with beaded bags and hair ornaments finally gave us what we needed. We clutched our treasures and went home with them to wear the next day at the Wedding.
We also received an interesting overview of the roles of woman in our society, just by seeing the products that are offered to us. After all, these items must sell, otherwise there would not be stores full of them for sale. One store saw woman as mere sex objects to be exposed and exploited. Another store sold products that would chain women for HOURS getting their hair done. Still another saw women as infantile people, adorning themselves with plastic baubles with silly messages on them. Finally, there was a store that carried "modesty" to a extreme, imprisoning women in veils that indicate that she is some vile, shameful creature that needs to be hidden away. (And let's not forget the "PRIDE" merchandise, which seems to want to eliminate women entirely.)
Jesus was a real revolutionary when He related to the women in His ministry. The Story of Mary and Martha is a prime example. First of all, he is having dinner with two single ladies in their home. What Teacher or Religious Leader of the times would even accept such an invitation? Even today, such a situation could invite gossip or scandal.
Next, we see Martha bustling about, making dinner. There was nothing unseemly about this. In fact, she was fulfilling "a woman's role", and doing it competently. If somebody didn't do these things, there would be no dinner.
And then there was Mary, sitting at Jesus's feet, being a disciple.
Everything is going fine until Martha starts complaining. There was no reason she couldn't dry off her hands, sit down, and listen for a while, and then Mary and she could finish up and serve the meal. Nobody was forcing her to stay in the kitchen while Jesus spoke.
The great thing about The Mall, is that I can choose which stores to enter and which ones to exit. I don't have to sit for hours in at the hairdresser to feel glamorous, nor to I have to dress like a prostitute to feel good about myself. By the same token, I don't need to cover up with a tent to be modest.
Jesus accorded the same freedoms to Mary and Martha, and then says that Mary chose the better part. Martha's problem was not that she needed help in the kitchen. It was that she became jealous of Mary's choice.

Malls give a good reading on what’s up in society.
Interesting malls are being phased out, as crime is not punished and shoplifting, theft, lack of safety increases and online shopping is far more popular.
But choosing to be at Jesus’ feet, his disciple, best choice.
Joining in prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem and for our beloved America.

Psalm 131
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
1 O Lord, my heart is not lifted up,
my eyes are not raised too high;
I do not occupy myself with things
too great and too marvellous for me.
2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
my soul is like the weaned child that is with me.*
3 O Israel, hope in the Lord
from this time on and for evermore.

The hanover mall, which was in an affluent area, has been totally razed to the ground and is being replaced with detached shops and restaurants.
Also REALLY expensive condos.
