Jordan Peterson Considers Every Possible Meaning Of Bible Story Except That It Might Mean Exactly What It Says

TORONTO — Despite staggering intellect and deep study of God's Word, psychologist/professor/author/speaker/room-cleaning enthusiast Dr. Jordan B. Peterson has resolved to stubbornly consider every possible tangential meaning of Bible stories except for the notion that it actually just means what it's saying.

"The death of Jesus Christ is a brilliant symbol," Peterson said in a new episode of his Daily Wire series studying the Bible. "Does the narrative of Jesus's death on the cross actually mean that the Son of God gave His own life for our sins? Like, no way, man! What it shows is an archetypical manifestation of mankind's evolutionary need for stable hierarchical structures."

Peterson's Christian admirers have been left frustrated by his ability to perform insightfully deep dives into biblical stories while simultaneously being unable to see the forest for the trees. "He's such a smart guy!" said Peterson fan Clifford Martin. "The meaning and purpose of all human existence is right there in front of him! Just read it and believe what it says! C'mon, dude!"

Peterson continued to go to great lengths to explore any and all potential meaning behind the Bible's stories except for its literal meaning. "The Bible is an astounding source of wisdom and truth, full of all kinds of possible meanings," Peterson continued. "It would be really too simple to just read the stories and have faith that they're true! What the Bible tells us is that God is a construct that symbolizes our need for clearly defined order amongst chaos. It obviously can't mean anything else!"

At publishing time, God was reportedly having someone work on a giant, flashing neon light version of the Bible to further get Peterson's attention.

RE: The Babylon bee has a libtard on the staff looks like

Did you determine that from the content of this article?

For all Jordan’s brilliance, and I love and admire the man, he sounds like a drone when he speaks of creatures and behaviors “evolving”.
Oh Jordan, the disciples did not become MARTYRS because they wanted to pass along a great myth. Group psychotic delusion has no basis in science.

“Group psychotic delusion has no basis in science.”

I won’t comment of Peterson’s hypothesis about Jesus, but all we have to do is look around us today and see insanity being infused into society - we are witnessing all manner of psychotic delusion.

It seems pretty clear that alstewartfan was referring to the fact that the behavior of the disciples after witnessing the resurrected Jesus cannot logically be explained by any theory that they had mental illness.

Group hallucination is impossible.

Group delusion resulting in highly organized behavior like that of the disciples is impossible.

I was waiting for that. No, group psychotic delusion means that more than one person sees or hears the same hallucination, not BELIEVES claptrap from a Jim Jones type.

Huh? Read it again very slowly and remember it’s satire.

Yes, I know it’s the Bee and satire, but honestly, an awful lot of people do that exact thing.

They *interpret* Scripture to make it mean or say something different than what a plain reading of the text in context says.

Most Scripture does not need interpretation. Just read it and do what it says. God does not make it complicated. Men, OTOH, do.

The Bee pokes fun at everyone. Some people do not understand humor. The motto is “**FAKE** NEWS YOU CAN TRUST!” lol

The Bee is not fake news, it’s prophetic. They just write tomorrow’s news today.

;)

Look back in the archive and read some of the Joel Osteen articles. Hysterical!

I knew a pastor that believed what this satire is saying. Somehow the virgin birth, crucifixion and resurrection had more meaning as stories rather than being the truth of what actually happened. A "mainstream" protestant church no less.

It doesn’t surprise me that it would be out of a mainstream Protestant denomination. They gave up on the Truth decades ago.

Yes, and yesterdays article too. The Bee has framed conservatives up for the last two days.

He is having a "hell" of a time intellectualizing the gospel. He's just not there yet. Go ahead, Peterson—surrender to the Lord. Repent and be saved.

RE: Yes, and yesterdays article too.

Can you point out to me the specific content within this thread’s article that you disagree with that makes you think that the writr is a libtard ( your words) ?

This article has nothing to do with conservatism, except for the fact that the Bee is more conservative theologically than Peterson.

It surprised me at the time. It’s been 30+ years ago now. He was a part-time assistant pastor at our small church. My wife and I had him and the head pastor over for dinner to talk and make sure we understood him correctly in his sermon. We did.

We thanked them for coming and said that we would not be part of the church anymore.

Sad. My wife had grown up in that church, we got married in the church, were deacons, sang in the choir, etc.
