It doesn’t surprise me that it would be out of a mainstream Protestant denomination. They gave up on the Truth decades ago.
It surprised me at the time. It’s been 30+ years ago now. He was a part-time assistant pastor at our small church. My wife and I had him and the head pastor over for dinner to talk and make sure we understood him correctly in his sermon. We did.
We thanked them for coming and said that we would not be part of the church anymore.
Sad. My wife had grown up in that church, we got married in the church, were deacons, sang in the choir, etc.
