The Romans taxed at 1% and 2% for emergencies, people today would be elated by those tax rates.

Obviously tithing was a biblical command to the biblical nation of Isareal. The question should be if it applies to gentile followers of Christ.

Obviously tithing was a biblical command to the biblical nation of Isareal. I will add that the practice of tithing preceded the giving of Law in the OT...
" But Melchizedek, who did not trace his descent from Levi, collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises."
And this new standard in the New Testament for believers...
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 - “But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.”

And tithing was never on income, but on produce, to feed the Levites, who had no land, as the other tribes did.

Well yes, I think that the Christian gentile is not under the letter of the tithing law, but still ought to give generously. Seems they can use the example of giving 10% as a guideline but should not view it as a law. Perhaps in their circumstances they ought give more, perhaps less...if not sure then perhaps using 10% as a guide until they have clarity is a good idea. Just like if a gentile Christian finds they are a workaholic they might decide not to work on Sabbaths.

They didn’t include Mormons. I think they would cruise into first place.

St Paul gave out a request for funds but no demand to give a certain amount.

2 Corinthians 9:7
21st Century King James Version
7 As every man purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly or out of compulsion; for God loveth the cheerful giver.

They should have asked to see their tax returns!

It is demanded of them. I have heard that they have to show their tax returns to the church to be temple worthy.

Lutherans are higher than I expected.
We strive to, but I don’t remember talking to other Lutherans about it.
Which is typical for Lutherans.

During the offering even cessassionist pastors become a bit Pentecostal, hoping all the congregation hears from God.
