It is well documented that perversions, murder, demonic possession and other evils, including human sacrifice, occur in Western witchcraft, Satanism and Eastern mysticism (e.g., tantric yoga) as well as pagan and pantheist occult religion in general. In his “Occultism, Witchcraft and Cultural Fashions,” the noted cultural anthropologist Mircea Eliade of the University of Chicago refers to the interconnections between European witchcraft and Hindu Tantric yoga…the royal path to raising Kundalini Serpent Power. Eliade argues that “even a rapid perusal of the Hindu and Tibetan documents” reveals the connection:
“As a matter of fact, all the features associated with European witches are – with the exception of Satan and the Sabbath – claimed also by Indo-Tibetan yogis and magicians. They too are supposed to fly through the air, render themselves invisible, kill at a distance, master demons and ghosts, and so on. Moreover, some of (them) boast that they break all the religious taboos and social rules; that they practice human sacrifice, cannibalism, and all manner of orgies, including incestuous intercourse, and that they eat excrement, nauseating animals, and devour human corpses. What is frightening is that Chris Bledsoe conflates his experiences with these "beings" with the Christian faith (according to him, he was raised in the church and is devout). There is a being he calls "The Lady" who appears to him in an apparition and gives him prophecies.
In his book (I have skimmed it from beginning to end), he prays to The Lady and her orbs and quotes Scripture as if it is supposed to be applicable.
The forward in his book was written by a well-known former CIA officer.
As an aside, the being Bledsoe calls The Lady sounds an awful lot like what students of ancient mythology (I have studied this stuff) will recognize as by various names such as Astarte (ancient Syria, Egypt), Ishtar (ancient Mesopotamian), Aphrodite (ancient Greece), Inanna (Sumeria) to name a few.
As people who have looked into the subject know well (as attested to by the Apostle Paul), the idols of Scripture are not just clay, wood, or metal figurines. They are indwelt by demons. Astarte is such a demon.
This is the source of the Queen of Heaven mythos.

You were good all the way until the end. Indian yoga has been around for 5000 years. The stretching exercise go CALLED yoga because the west was on one of its weird obsessions with eastern stuff, so using eastern words was great advertising.

Yes, the Yoga tradition is ancient, but downward facing dog pose had nothing to do with it until the 20th century.

I don’t know what they do today, but that research was from the 50s and 60s, and I think they do a lot of it both from a defensive impetus as well as offensive potential. In fact, I think they started the program(s) because they heard the ruskies were doing it. I’m guessing that on a personal level, a lot of them laughed and scoffed, but if there is anything tangible to come out of it, it would be their due diligence to know, because your enemy could be developing it.
A fellow senior softball friend attends a yoga class regularly. He says all he gets out of it are sore muscles from all the stretching he has to do.
