Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 8
Jesus Heals a Blind Man at Bethsaida

22 They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”

24 He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”

25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. 26 Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into[a] the village.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty and Eternal Father,
How Glorious and Wonderful You Are!
Your Magnificence and Perfection are Overwhelming.
And yet, even more so,
Your Justice, Your Righteousness,
and Your Profound Holiness!
For It is You Who Made All That Exists,
From the Mightiest Galaxies to the Tiniest Atom.
You Know Us Inside and Out.
Our Hearts and Thoughts belong to You.
For You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One True God of Abraham,
and Indeed of ALL People.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

An old joke goes like this:

"An elderly lady boasted that she had three "lovers".

"I wake up with Will Power, spend the day with Arthur Itis, and go to bed with Ben Gay"

While that always got a laugh at the Elder Care Facility, joint pain is no joke. My knees are getting their revenge for all the Motorcycle Accidents I walked away from Back-in-the-Day, and there are dozens of alleged remedies out there. My dear friends have made lots of recommendations, including taping up my knees, CBD topicals, knee straps, knee braces, and multiple kinds of pain patches. Each product touts itself as a "BREAKTHROUGH REMEDY" and none have provided real relief. One friend says I should get a knee replacement, and another says "WHATEVER you do, DON'T get a Knee Replacement!"

And so it goes. I'm going to keep praying that it heals up before Spring, as I have two recitals coming up and a motorcycle that needs ridin'.

I believe completely that Jesus will heal me, but I have no idea of His timetable or by what method He will use. So I'll just keep praying.

This two-stage healing of the Blind Man is unique in the Gospels. In other healings, Jesus used saliva, mud, a touch, or just a word to heal people. There are no "Secret Formulas", Incantations, Magic Words, or elaborate rituals.There is nothing we can point to and say "Do it this way and you will get the same results". In fact, if an Ophthalmologist spit on somebody's eyes, he would probably lose his license!

Here was a blind man who had heard that Jesus could restore his eyesight. Imagine his horror when he gets spit on, and then gets only a partial healing at first. He indoubtedly had bumped into trees before he was healed, and now he saw people moving around him, lindistinct like the trees he used to bump into. It was all very confusing. Most people would have walked away in despair at this stage. Yet, the man continued to cooperate with Jesus, and, then Jesus lays hands upon the man's eyes and he receives his sight.

Jesus must have known that there was something in the man's personality that needed this two-stage healing.

Years ago, missionary doctors found that primitive people couldn't accept a simple aspirin to remedy a headache because it was too easy. Because they were used to elaborate, painful, and arcane rituals for healing, the people thought that healing had to HURT. The doctors coated the aspirin with quinine to make it taste awful. By doing this, they seemed to legitimize the treatment. The nastier the taste, the better the medicine.

While we may never understand why some people get healed and others don't, we must never assign blame or resort to formulas. Even if this is the only lesson we derive from this unorthodox method employed with this particular Blind Man, then, it is a valuable lesson indeed.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 111

1 Praise the Lord!
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,
in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
2 Great are the works of the Lord,
studied by all who delight in them.
3 Full of honour and majesty is his work,
and his righteousness endures for ever.
4 He has gained renown by his wonderful deeds;
the Lord is gracious and merciful.
5 He provides food for those who fear him;
he is ever mindful of his covenant.
6 He has shown his people the power of his works,
in giving them the heritage of the nations.
7 The works of his hands are faithful and just;
all his precepts are trustworthy.
8 They are established for ever and ever,
to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.
9 He sent redemption to his people;
he has commanded his covenant for ever.
Holy and awesome is his name.
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who practise it* have a good understanding.
His praise endures for ever.

Your stories remind me of how Elisha healed Naaman the leper. Dunk 7 times in the Jordan River. Too easy. But it worked when he did it.
