Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Mark 7
Jesus Honors a Syrophoenician Woman’s Faith

24 Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre.[g] He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not keep his presence secret. 25 In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an impure spirit came and fell at his feet. 26 The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.

27 “First let the children eat all they want,” he told her, “for it is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”

28 “Lord,” she replied, “even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”

29 Then he told her, “For such a reply, you may go; the demon has left your daughter.”

30 She went home and found her child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God!
Sanctified and Holy is Your Most hallowed Name.
How Excellent,
How Wonderful,
How Perfect You Are!
My heart is Overwhelmed With Your Glory,
Your Magnificence,
and Your Power!

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

Some Dog Stories:

1. Cheerio: Tippy is disappointed. Monday is her "Socialization Day", and her Trainer has contractors working on the house, so no Play Date till next week. Tippy's Trainer is a friend who also plays cello, and we will often play music together while Tippy and her "boyfriend" Cheerio romp in the enclosed yard. While there are several other dogs to play with, Tippy and Cheerio are inseparable.

Cheerio is considered "unadoptable" because he bit the groomer. Hence, he can't go to the groomer or be adopted because he has a RECORD. Naturally, Tippy being Tippy, she befriended the "Bad Boy" in the Play Group, and now they are best friends.My friend even asked if I would like to take Cheerio home with me, but I know my limits, and two dogs in a trailer would be too much for me.

So, we will have to wait till next week for Tippy to see her buddy. My friend has done such a good job with Cheerio that I can't imagine him ever lashing out at a groomer again. But the record still stands, and he will probably live the rest of his years with the Trainer.

2. Crumbs From the Table: Tippy is really good around babies. Once she realized that a baby is merely a tiny human, she ignores them. However, my grandniece, ten-month-old Violet, threw a teething biscuit across the room, and Tippy caught it. She liked it so much that now she thinks they are for HER. We had to train her that the teething biscuits are for the BABY, not for her. However, if Violet THROWS it on the floor, it's fair game.

3. Teen Jeopardy: The category was Literature and the "Answer" was The character in the Odyssey who was the only one who recognized Odysseus after his twenty-year journey". The answer was "Who was Argus the Dog?" None of the teens got it right.

In our English Language, we have many words for dogs. They are Dogs, Doggies, Doggoes, Mongrels, Curs, Pups, Pooches, Puppies, and the infamous "B" word reserved for the female of the species. Some of them are nice words, and some, not so nice. In the Greek language, we also have those kind of distinctions. In The Odyssey, we meet one of the most faithful characters in all of Classical Literature, Argus. However, in the Middle East, dogs are not beloved like in our own culture. Dogs often roamed the streets in packs, eating carrion and menacing pedestrians.

One of the pejoratives for Gentiles was "Dog", and it wasn't complimentary. That's why when modern readers see this Passage, we recoil at the idea of Jesus inferring that the Syro-Phonecian Woman was a "Dog". It is a cringe-worthy moment.

Further study shows that the Greek Word for "dog" that is reported in both Matthew and Mark's Gospel is one of the positive dog words. It means "little dogs" or "puppies" and implies affection. In fact, my first pastor, Pastor Jack (RIP), used the word "Puppies" when preaching on this Passage. It puts it in a whole new light, knowing that fine-tuning of the Translation.

Unlike Tippy's boyfriend Cheerio, who will always be the scruffy bad-boy-with-a-record, we are washed clean when we come to Jesus. We are adopted as "sons", heirs to the Promise, and a New Creature in Christ.

And we don't have to settle for crumbs either.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 135

1 Praise the Lord!
Praise the name of the Lord;
give praise, O servants of the Lord,
2 you that stand in the house of the Lord,
in the courts of the house of our God.
3 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing to his name, for he is gracious.
4 For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself,
Israel as his own possession.

5 For I know that the Lord is great;
our Lord is above all gods.
6 Whatever the Lord pleases he does,
in heaven and on earth,
in the seas and all deeps.
7 He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth;
he makes lightnings for the rain
and brings out the wind from his storehouses.

8 He it was who struck down the firstborn of Egypt,
both human beings and animals;
9 he sent signs and wonders
into your midst, O Egypt,
against Pharaoh and all his servants.
10 He struck down many nations
and killed mighty kings—
11 Sihon, king of the Amorites,
and Og, king of Bashan,
and all the kingdoms of Canaan—
12 and gave their land as a heritage,
a heritage to his people Israel.

13 Your name, O Lord, endures for ever,
your renown, O Lord, throughout all ages.
14 For the Lord will vindicate his people,
and have compassion on his servants.

15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.
16 They have mouths, but they do not speak;
they have eyes, but they do not see;
17 they have ears, but they do not hear,
and there is no breath in their mouths.
18 Those who make them
and all who trust them
shall become like them.

19 O house of Israel, bless the Lord!
O house of Aaron, bless the Lord!
20 O house of Levi, bless the Lord!
You that fear the Lord, bless the Lord!
21 Blessed be the Lord from Zion,
he who resides in Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord!

Yet, these pets are so loved and bring comfort. Puppy love, man’s best friend, ....
