Shockingly, just short of 1/3rd of the congregation voted to remain.
That means that 1/3rd of the congregation had no idea of what the Bible teaches re: this matter OR didn't care.
Just a guess, but I'll bet a large percentage of the other 2/3rd of the congregation didn't know what was in the Bible either and was only voting what they "thought" was tradition.
I am dumbfounded by the event.
As an aside, I have send an email to friends in the church linking them to the audio Bible on youtube because it is an easy way to read it when eyes are tired at the end of the day.
No response. Zero, zip, nada!
I posted the same link here at FR and got a somewhat better response.
People just don't seem interested in the Bible.
It really is alarming as a person’s attitude towards the Bible is pretty much a reflection of their attitude towards God.
It is after all, His very own words to us, His special revelation to us so that we can know Him and His mind better.
People reject Scripture at their own risk.
I read it and listen to it at the same time on Bible Gateway. I use that in morning devotions.
I like The Blue Letter Bible app on my phone. It’s easy to navigate. I can be reading along with the preacher while others are still turning pages.
Better the devil you know...
There is a great app called Hallow which has “Bible in a year” and it’s really good.
