The largest United Methodist Church in South Carolina announced plans to leave the mainline denomination over an ongoing debate on homosexuality in the church.
According to the Post and Courier, Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church of Lexington, which has a congregation exceeding 5,000 members, started a discernment process earlier this week about leaving the UMC.
"We are thankful a plan, path and price has been provided for traditional churches to consider separation from the denomination," the Rev. Jeff Kersey, the senior pastor of Mt. Horeb, told The Post and Courier.
The church is affiliated with the UMC South Carolina Conference, a regional body of the denomination which oversees all of the congregations in the state.
One representative of the Conference told The Christian Post that Mt. Horeb was the "largest local church in the South Carolina Conference."

Instead of focusing on globohomo cultural relativism, they should focus on God’s grace, mercy and love.
They are completely missing the point.
God is not going to affirm hormones and nobody else should have to either.
The interesting thing about the Methodist split is that folks are leaving from both ends. Unlike the PCUSA, ECUSA, and ELCA where the Bible belivers left the denomination and the liberals stayed, with the Methodist, both some of the Bible believers and some of the homosexuals are leaving, with the mushy middle remaining.

There should be no debate. But those who have been turned over to depraved minds make debates where none would be possible otherwise.

Maybe these churches that are condoning or may start condoning homosexual relationships ought to read the Bible and see what God thinks about it.

The schisms movement within the UMC began with the demographoics of (a) more Methodists are people outside the U.S. than inside the U.S., and (b) majorities of the non-American Methodists are more biblical traditional than are very many of the American Methodists, and (c) together with non-American Methodists the Conservative American Methodists had the strength to block changes that would have declared the entire denomination as LBGT “affirming”.
Conservative American Methodists will be joining with majorities of non-American Methodists in forming a new Methodist union.

After reading the article and the comments here, I still can’t say for certainty which side of the debate this church is on or what exactly the debate is about.
In today’s woke culture you can’t even debate the debate.
There should not even BE a debate anyway. Here is why.
What word/term defines the most disgusting you can think of? God uses “abomination”.

Homosexual acts (which ARE what defines a homosexual) are an ABOMINATION to the Lord. (God/Jesus).
Good enough for God, good enough for me.
The mushy middle, the lukewarm will be spewed out of the mouth and the homo’s already know their fate with the Eternal. Reminds me of the 7th church mentioned in Revelation.
All the liberal churches in my area are dying or have been reduced to social/political clubs. Those sticking to the Bible seem to be thriving.
Should leave them all for their anti-2nd Amendment positions.
I’ll say something nice about the PCUSA. They’ve always been great about tracking statistics.
