SilereNonPossum.it (January 5) leaked information on embarrassing moments surrounding Benedict's funeral. Highlights.
• Francis' Master of Ceremonies, Father Diego Ravelli, struggled to convince Francis not to leave St Peter's Square before Benedict’s coffin was carried into the basilica.
• However, Francis categorically refused to be present at the burial in the grottoes of Saint Peter's.
• Originally, Francis wanted the funeral to be “like that of a cardinal, nothing more.”
• While Italy, Spain and Britain put their flags at half-mast after Benedict's death, Francis wanted "no mourning" at the Vatican.
• Francis pushed the information that only two state’s delegations would be present. In reality, many high-ranking personalities attended, but in a personal capacity.
• The Secretariat of State asked them to attend without a gala dress but they didn’t comply because they would also have done so for the funeral of a simple cardinal.
• The Secretary of State told its court reporters to water down Archbishop Gänswein's statements.
• Francis wanted to bury Benedict in the ground, but then Benedict's last wish to be laid to rest in John Paul II's former tomb became known, forcing Francis to relent.
• The Governatorato made no plans for the funeral. Only at the last minute did they organise parking for high-ranking participants.
• Francis wanted to leave the funeral as soon as possible and said to someone next to him, "It's cold."
Ping
Classy for a Jesuit. Reminds me of the first Lady from 2009-2017.
But somewhat less cold as soon as he departed.
None of it surprising actually.
Metropolitan Tikhon (Orthodox Church in America) Attends Funeral of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI
Francis is true to form. When he hates you, he gives you a rotten treatment.
He hated Benedict because Benedict was true to tradition.
Oh no …
Frankie is not 1/2 the man Pope Benedict was ..
B16 had more Grace in his little finger than Frankie has in his whole ugly body …
Can we call down fire?
He feels the grave

He’s not even one percent the faithful Catholic that Benedict was.
He’s not even one percent the faithful Catholic that Benedict was.
In fairness, I’m not sure that I’m one percent of the faithful Catholic that Benedict was.
And on his behalf, it must be recognized that Francis has the handicap of having entrusted his sanctification to the Sons of St. Ignatius. That reminds me of a line out of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. If anyone can post the lip “He CHose Poorl”. I’d be grateful
With Frankee we finally have the answer to the question “is the Pope Catholic?”. The answer is no.
I cannot speak for Jesuits worldwide but the Jebbies I encountered in HS and college taught me to think. With the exceptions of two Sisters of Charity New York who I had in 6th and 8th grade, the Jebbies were the best teachers I ever had.
When Frannie dies, perhaps he can be laid to rest in Lenin’s tomb. Keep the communists together.
The Jesuits have generally been good to excellent Academically and value education, generally giving their members all the intellectual formation they can handle. Jorge only got to the point of kicking around potential dissertation topics, which makes him very uneducated for a Jesuit. He was also extremely conservative for a South American Jesuit of his time.
When it comes to advanced spiritual formation or liturgical formation, well, you can’t do everything well, and the Jesuits have picked which hills they generally are willing to die on.
There is an old proverb “lost as a Jesuit in Holy Week.” Ironic, given the timing of the ending of the last conclave.
Bergoglio is like summer vacation... no class.
Attended Jesuit prep school in Europe in the 50’s. Nothing better at that time.
