CV NEWS FEED // The House of Representatives on Thursday voted to pass the so-called Respect for Marriage Act, sending the legislation to President Joe Biden’s desk to be signed into law.
There are 130 Catholics serving in the House of Representatives, of which 74 are Democrats and 56 are Republicans. CatholicVote Communications Director Joshua Mercer noted after the vote that out of the 130 Catholics, 89 voted to redefine marriage, while only 40 Catholics voted no. (One member, Rep. Kevin Brady, a Catholic Republican from Texas, did not vote.)
“There are 74 Catholic Democrats in the House of Representatives and they all voted to redefine marriage and expose religious organizations to years of lawfare from harassing lawsuits,” Mercer said:
Sadly, 15 of the 56 Catholic Republicans in the House (27% of them) complied with this Democrat-sponsored legislation. We are thankful for the 40 Catholic Republicans in the House who stood their ground and voted no on this dangerous legislation.

A Christian democrat could very well be an oxymoron . . . no matter what denomination.
I’d rather be ruled by Muslims than misbelieving Christians.
I believe this Bill may be a good thing in that now it’ll give some state or somebody standing to take it to the Supreme Court and get rid of gay marriage altogether
Interesting take on it. That’s if a state does it. I doubt any will
Gays are going to flood Christian churches, if for no other reason than to see them shut down.
What happens when a large Arch Diocese, like NYC, has them show up. What will the Catholic church and its socialist Pope do then?
Looks like the Catholics and the Mormons are now on the same page.
Thanks for Posting! I dug into the numbers. I disregarded the Democrats for obvious reasons and looked at only the 15 Republican catholic yes votes. I also disregarded the blue states and the purple states (by the way New Jersey’s Two republican Catholics both voted no, so that was a nice surprise).
Florida’s 1 Republican catholic’s district is on the Far South Tip of Florida (starting just south of Miami) and is Hispanic.
Similarly Texas’s 1 Republican catholic’s district is in the Rio Grande Valley and is Hispanic.
Missouri’s 1 Republican catholic’s district is in West St. Louis.
The only surprise outlier was Iowa’s Republican catholic’s district is in Southeastern Iowa and no major cities (maybe someone else knows the political demographics of Iowa better than I do). However upon investigating that female representative was originally from California, was in the military, was a physician and carries a hyphenated name. So is an outlier in a lot of ways.
Obviously being Catholic is at the bottom of these politicians priority list. May they accept the grace of repentance before the end.
I’m surprised there are that many {R}s...
I’m a *very* imperfect Catholic...and always have been. But at least I know that marriages include exactly three “X” chromosomes and one “Y”. Anything else is a sick charade.
Burn baby burn. The brood of vipers can call themselves whatever they want, just like the pope and cupich et al.
These people are not Catholic, regardless of what they want to call themselves.
Unitarian?...
Because they, like a great many American Jews are fake. They hide behind their religious heritage. Attempting to use it like a shield while not adhering to their faith’s teachings whatsoever. They do so knowing that Low Information Voters (H/T Rush Limbaugh) are ignorant fools.
They are politicians first and anything else is a flag of convenience. It’s a politician thing, not a Roman Catholic thing.
For years, the bastards on the far-left been trashing marriage. Now, it’s sacred to their dumb asses. Weird how the retarded mind works.
Sunday Catholics.
89 Catholics voted to redefine marriage. Well, then. They cannot be called Catholics and they cannot be trusted with the Ten Commandments.
Fake Catholics like our Pope, and they make me sick!
Catholic in name only.
