Rome Newsroom, Dec 12, 2022 / 09:50 am Pope Francis will send a letter to the world’s heads of state asking them to pardon prisoners, the Vatican announced Monday.
The invitation to make a “gesture of clemency” will be sent “on the occasion of the upcoming Christmas,” a Dec. 12 communication said.
The Vatican said the letter will invite world leaders to grant leniency to “those of our brothers and sisters deprived of their liberty whom they deem fit to benefit from such a measure, so that this time marked by tensions, injustices, and conflicts may be opened to the grace that comes from the Lord.”
The latest figures from the World Prison Population List, published in December 2021, report that there are an estimated 11.5 million prisoners worldwide.
How about you give the law abiding a break and keep our lives a little more crime free

How about calling on criminals to embrace the spirit of Christmas, repent of their crimes, and earn forgiveness and a new life by following the teachings of Christ? That would seem closer to what the Vicar of Christ should recommend.

The VICTIMS deserve compassion and rights.
It makes the do gooders feel gushy and warm over their virtue signaling but they are enabling criminals to harm or kill more victims.
The current wimpy attitude of the Church only came about after hundreds of years otherwise.
Historical note: The Church had paid staff executioners to dole out the death penalty.

Before everyone faints from emotions, please remember that the criminal torture and murder many people. Individuals, home invaders, sick torturers and serial killers would like to be watching TV and playing basketball in prison yards and then get pardoned.

Even God requires repentance (a 100% change of mind) before forgiveness. Why not Bergoglio?
How about, first, pardoning traditional Catholics and let them worship at the Mass of their fathers?
Or personally demanding that his fellow communist buddy, Xi Jinping, release Jimmy Lai from prison?
Isn’t that what started things a couple thousand years ago?
