Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew 17
Jesus Heals a Demon-Possessed Boy
14 When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him. 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said. “He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16 I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.” 17 “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” 18 Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” [21] [a]

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Heavenly Father
My LORD,
My Fortress
You Stand With me Against the Onslaught of the enemy
You Are Our Defense
You cause me to stand tall,
I can face the enemy of my soul,
Because You have lifted me up.
You Have Placed me in a High Place!
We pray for the Repentance,
Restoration, and
Renewal of Our Beloved Nation.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

I've seen a lot of "bucket-list" rock concerts in the past few years. The Dooby Brothers, Rod Stewart, Santana, Steely Dan, Steve Winwood, Earth Wind and Fire, and most recently, Eric Clapton. Most of these musicians are over 70 years old, and have been performing for over 50 years. And all of them performed at a level of expertise that was astounding to me, as a musician. The talent (and practice!) that went into those performances was beyond anything I could ever accomplish.
One of the things in the Clapton Concert that absolutely blew my mind was what is called a segue. This is when the entire band, like a flock of birds changing direction, change into a new song that could be in a different key, a different tempo, and a different time-signature from the previous one. This change is usually smoothed over by a pre-agreed-upon transitional passage, that cleverly sets up both the musician and audience for the new song. Basic Chord Theory (Circle of Fifths!) is used to its best effect, and any musician worth his salt knows that, not matter how long the transitional passage is, it will lead into the new key, tempo, and song. What amazed me about the Clapton Segue was that the musicians all moved into the next song without a transitional passage. It wowed everybody in the audience, especially the musicians among us.
Last night, I attempted to perform a medley of songs by Christie MacVie, who recently passed away. My little sister was on the box drum, and my friend Thaddeus was on lead guitar. We had no rehearsal, but I told them I would segue from the key of G, to E Major, using just one chord, the B7. The third song was in the same Key, but it was in a whole new tempo, from Classic Rock to Reggae.
The first segue went fine, as it followed the rules of Music Theory. The B7 Chord was all that was needed to point to the new song. However, the second segue was a whole different matter. It took a couple of bars before we three were in sync. I now know that I should have just ended the first medley before launching into the third song. It wasn't that we couldn't do it, but we had not rehearsed it. Anyway, when we finally DID line it up, it sounded great. But it took a bit of faith to get through the eight or so bars of utter chaos to come through to the new song. Unlike the first segue, which was achieved by using a formula (that mighty B7 Chord!) the second segue needed something deeper...a connection and communication between the three musicians which would have come if we had practiced together and were connected to each other as a unit.
When the disciples brought the child who suffered from seizures to Jesus, they said they had tried everything. Jesus had already given them the power to cast out demons, but, in this case they couldn't do it. (just a note from my Study Bible: "Not all seizures are caused by demons, but in this case, they were") Jesus told them that the reason they failed was because they didn't have enough Faith. It would seem that they knew how to do it (Theory), but didn't believe enough to Practice their knowledge. In other descriptions of this incident, Jesus speaks of periods of fasting and prayer to improve one's Faith. That is analogous to the musicians practicing together to align their minds and hearts as a unit.
Time spent in prayer is like getting "in sync" with God. Let HIM conduct all your segues, because life is FULL of them.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM! And for the Preservation of the Valiant Israeli Nation!
 | __ | when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. |
Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Amen !!! <><
Psalm 75
To the leader: Do Not Destroy. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song.
1 We give thanks to you, O God;
we give thanks; your name is near.
People tell of your wondrous deeds.
2 At the set time that I appoint
I will judge with equity.
3 When the earth totters, with all its inhabitants,
it is I who keep its pillars steady.
Selah
4 I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast’,
and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn;
5 do not lift up your horn on high,
or speak with insolent neck.’
6 For not from the east or from the west
and not from the wilderness comes lifting up;
7 but it is God who executes judgement,
putting down one and lifting up another.
8 For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup
with foaming wine, well mixed;
he will pour a draught from it,
and all the wicked of the earth
shall drain it down to the dregs.
9 But I will rejoice* for ever;
I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 All the horns of the wicked I will cut off,
but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
