Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Matthew 11

Woe on Unrepentant Towns

20 Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. 21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. 23 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.[e] For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. 24 But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our God and Our King,

You are Our Righteousness

We Can Never Attain it Ourselves.

Just as Abraham believed You,

And it was counted unto him as Righteousness,

We ask You To give us that Measure of Faith,

And lead Us in Paths of Righteousness for Your Name's Sake.

We Pray that there will be insight and clarity in governance,

So that America can once again Believe You.

And walk in the Path of Righteousness,

Which will eventually lead us to prosperity and peace.

Our enemies surround us, But You identify them and anoint us to stand tall.

We Know You are with us, and Will be forever, in this world and the next.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.

This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.

God Bless America.

My Aunt Mary loved Opera. During the 1930's this was a lonely kind of "fandom", as poor people couldn't afford Opera Tickets. But Mary's best friend's dad worked at the Boston Opera House (now a Northeastern University Dorm), and he would sneak Mary and her little sister (Mom) into the balcony where there were empty seats. Their schoolgirl crushes were on Lawrence Tibbets and Nelson Eddy instead of Frank Sinatra.

These awesome outings were few and far between but Mary would play the Saturday Afternoon Broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera on the radio. She set up the ironing board and did all the family's ironing for the week...a formidable task, considering that people ironed EVERYTHING in those days, including sheets and underwear. For four hours, every Saturday, Mary ironed, as she was transported into the Worlds of Puccini, Verdi, Strauss, and Wagner. She carried this love of Opera all of her life.

In the early 50's Mary and her friend Megs (also a big Opera Fan) went to New York City to join up with other fans and attend the Met. They connected with the New York Chapter of their Fan Club, and met a nice young attorney who was even a more devoted fan of Opera than they were. He knew EVERYTHING about Opera. Even though he was extremely smart and knowledgeable, he was very nice to these two single ladies from Boston, showed them around New York, took them to lunch, and had a great time talking about his favorite subject. All the time he was a perfect gentleman, and made a wonderful impression on Mary and Megs. Even though Mary was an intense Red Sox fan, she came to love New York. In fact, she had a Bumper Sticker on her car:

"I LOVE NEW YORK
IT'S THE YANKEES I HATE"

Mary said, You just watch. That man is going to be Mayor of New York someday."

Their friend eventually DID become the Mayor of new York City, at a time when the city had sunk to a very low ebb. A string of previous mayors had allowed the City to deteriorate into a dirty, crime-ridden, dump where one could not even drive a car without being assailed by "Squeegee Guys", pickpockets, and drug dealers. The New Mayor, who had been a Prosecutor and DA, went right to work cleaning up the City. It soon became livable again, in just a few short years. The goodwill and civic responsibility fostered by the new mayor's efforts affected the whole city, and when tragedy struck on 9/11/01, the People of New York were role models for the entire world. Their mayor, Rudy Giuliani, handled the crisis beautifully, and was dubbed "America's Mayor".

When Rudy's term ended, he was replaced by yet another string of poor mayors. The city once again began to fail. The Covid Crisis and Illegal Immigration has once again turned the city into a hellhole. But that's not the worst of it.

Because liberals abhor law and order, the City has turned on "America's Mayor". The miracles of prosperity, and peace in the streets have been forgotten. The valor of the First Responders and the Regular people of New York on 9/11/01 have faded away in less than twenty short years. And, for some reason, the People of New York seem to hate Rudy. What Happened? Human Nature happened. People, it seems, are an ungrateful, lazy, greedy, and unforgiving bunch.

This is nothing new. When Jesus performed His mighty miracles in the Galilee Region, people were amazed. They delighted in His healing the sick, raising the dead, and casting out demons. They eagerly ate the bread and fish that were distributed by the Disciples. They should have become the Center of Christianity for centuries to come...or at least they should have repented of their sin and followed Jesus.

Instead, these towns only exist today as Archaeological Digs. When I was in Capernaum in 1984, it did not even have a restroom. (I guess there is a Visitors Center now. Somebody must have complained!)

The lesson here is plain. When we are presented with a miracle, don't forget about the One Who has brought it about. A little GRATITUDE goes a long way towards Peace and Justice.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Wow...how could I have left off Bizet?

My All-Time FAVORITE Opera is Carmen, and Aunt Mary and Mom saw that one with Rise Stephens in the Title Roll. I think Tibbets played the Toreador.

Psalm 71

1 In you, O Lord, I take refuge;
let me never be put to shame.
2 In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me;
incline your ear to me and save me.
3 Be to me a rock of refuge,
a strong fortress,* to save me,
for you are my rock and my fortress.

4 Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the grasp of the unjust and cruel.
5 For you, O Lord, are my hope,
my trust, O Lord, from my youth.
6 Upon you I have leaned from my birth;
it was you who took me from my mother’s womb.
My praise is continually of you.

7 I have been like a portent to many,
but you are my strong refuge.
8 My mouth is filled with your praise,
and with your glory all day long.
9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age;
do not forsake me when my strength is spent.
10 For my enemies speak concerning me,
and those who watch for my life consult together.
11 They say, ‘Pursue and seize that person
whom God has forsaken,
for there is no one to deliver.’

12 O God, do not be far from me;
O my God, make haste to help me!
13 Let my accusers be put to shame and consumed;
let those who seek to hurt me
be covered with scorn and disgrace.
14 But I will hope continually,
and will praise you yet more and more.
15 My mouth will tell of your righteous acts,
of your deeds of salvation all day long,
though their number is past my knowledge.
16 I will come praising the mighty deeds of the Lord God,
I will praise your righteousness, yours alone.

17 O God, from my youth you have taught me,
and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds.
18 So even to old age and grey hairs,
O God, do not forsake me,
until I proclaim your might
to all the generations to come.*
Your power 19and your righteousness, O God,
reach the high heavens.

You who have done great things,
O God, who is like you?
20 You who have made me see many troubles and calamities
will revive me again;
from the depths of the earth
you will bring me up again.
21 You will increase my honour,
and comfort me once again.

22 I will also praise you with the harp
for your faithfulness, O my God;
I will sing praises to you with the lyre,
O Holy One of Israel.
23 My lips will shout for joy
when I sing praises to you;
my soul also, which you have rescued.
24 All day long my tongue will talk of your righteous help,
for those who tried to do me harm
have been put to shame, and disgraced.
