Pope who called God a loving Mother set to be beatified
Catholic Conclave ^ | 31/8/2022 | CG

Posted on 08/31/2022 2:52:40 PM PDT by Gillibrand1

Albino Luciani distanced himself early on from the triumphalist pomp of his church, which still calls herself holy. When he became Bishop of Vittorio Veneto in 1958, he added only one word to his coat of arms: Humilitas, humility. He stuck to this when Pope Paul VI appointed him Archbishop and Patriarch of Venice in 1969. And he, the son of an anti-clerical Italian socialist, even appointed him Cardinal in 1973. On 26 August 1978, Albino Luciani became Pope himself. "God forgive you for what you have done to me," he criticises the cardinals who elected him in the fourth ballot with 99 out of 111 votes.

The whole RC mother-son as co-redeemers is an ancient pagan concept.

It is indeed, going right back to the post Flood era.

Should be simple to post a Mother God scripture then…
But there are none

NOR is there a scripture in the Bible that has the word
"BIBLE" in it...
or "Trinity" or "Rapture"
or "personal Lord and Savior"...
Not found in the scripture either. So your reply there is moat.

But back to what you deflected away fom....

God created them male and female.
So where did the likeness and image for the female come from?...
If we all are created in his image?
Just where is the woman likeness in God?

__> NOR is there a scripture in the Bible that has the word

The Bible is simply what we all the collected scriptures, printed and bound.

In this instance, God ALWAYS reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Never Mother.

Not in Hebrew. Not in a Greek.

Paganism? Sure!

Choose wisely.

Matthew 7:5 Douay-Rheims
Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam in thy own eye, and then shalt thou see to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

—> But back to what you deflected away from....

Your argument is irrelevant.

It sits next to other fascinating questions like how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

We have clear revelation directly from God that He is Father not Mother.

Doctrine comes from revelation not speculation.

Um, in Catholiciism doctrine springs from the minds of men, men who seek to empower their religion, their power, their importance. They accomplish this by first spreading doubt then spittling in their beliefs in the gaps they can whip up. That is how they have incorporated so many pagan rites and beliefs in their religion. Today’s catholiciism is not even close to Christianity.

They gone from that, "...did GOD really say?"

to...

...GOD didn't say everything that is needed (right?)

to...

...GOD thinks it's ok to do this and thus and that and sumpthin' else.

" Just where is the female/woman likeness to be found in God?"

Obviously not that God has both male and female reproductive organs. Instead, while "image" perhaps may be allowed as referring to God as a spirit having a universal form (hands, face, etc.) analogous to what man physically has, I think the most acceptable understanding is that God created man as a triune being, having a body, soul and spirit (cf. 1 Ths. 5:23) with the latter being why man worships a creator by nature, which is unique among earthly creatures. You NAB posts that "image" means that man "resembles God primarily because of the dominion God gives him over the rest of creation.

In any case Gn. 1:26 does not provide any basis for God being a women, though He may refer to some motherly aspects analogous by Him ("as a" mother, not "a mother):

Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. (Isaiah 49:15)

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not! (Luke 13:34)

There is no Mother God - except in paganism. by aMorePerfectUnion

" That’s your belief in whatever religion you follow. Quit bashing the Catholic Church and just live your life. Nobody cares what you think is true or false. "

By opposing censure of belief in a Mother God then you are affirming heresy. Mormonism favors a Heavenly Mother as often does paganism,

Obviously God is not both male and female. The thought is silly.

When Christ was in human form on the earth He was a man. After His death He came back, as a man. Just before leaving for the last time when a crowd was there to watch him ascend up into heaven there were two Angeles who asked why the people marveled, didn’t they know that Christ would come again in the same manner as He left.

Christ taught us to pray not to our mother in heaven but to “Our Father who art in heaven”.

God is a changeless being. Just because our ideas on earth about our relationship between man and woman change does not mean that God Changes.

We forget that God is a father, literally the Father of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Mary was impregnated and warned that she would be but not to worry because “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and God’s power will rest on you”. God’s Spirit made her pregnant. It was a male that got her pregnant.

The Heavenly Mother doctrine is taught by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church),[3] the Restoration Church of Jesus Christ,[4][5][unreliable source?] and branches of Mormon fundamentalism, such as the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.[citation needed] The doctrine is not generally recognized by other denominations within the Latter Day Saint movement, such as the Community of Christ, where trinitarianism is predominant.

I don't know why trinitarianism is NOT taught by the BIG organization based in Salt Lake City.
After all; their holy books contain the following:

Trinity:

found in the Book of MORMON        -----------   mentioned elsewhere

Book of Mormon:

Now Zeezrom said: Is there more than one God? And he answered, No. (Alma 11:28-29)

...and be arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God, to be judged according to their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil. (Alma 11:44)

...doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen. (2 Nephi 31:21)

...praises with the choirs above, unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which are one God, in a state of happiness which hath no end. (Mormon 7:7)

...power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son--And they are one God, yea, the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth. And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the Son to the Father, being one God, (Mosiah 15:3-5)

...of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them. (Ether 2:8)

"Behold, I am Jesus Christ the Son of God. I created the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are. I was with the Father from the beginning. I am in the Father, and the Father in me; and in me hath the Father glorified his name." (3 Nephi 9:15)

"And again the Lord called others, and said unto them likewise; and he gave unto them power to baptize. And he said unto them: On this wise shall ye baptize; and there shall be no disputations among you. Verily I say unto you, that whoso repenteth of his sins through your words and desireth to be baptized in my name, on this wise shall ye baptize them--Behold, ye shall go down and stand in the water, and in my name shall ye baptize them. And now behold, these are the words which ye shall say, calling them by name, saying: Having authority given me of Jesus Christ, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. And then shall ye immerse them in the water, and come forth again out of the water. And after this manner shall ye baptize in my name; for behold, verily I say unto you, that the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one; and I am in the Father, and the Father in me, and the Father and I are one...And thus will the Father bear record of me, and the Holy Ghost will bear record unto him of the Father and me; for the Father, and I, and the Holy Ghost are one." (3 Nephi 11:22-27, 36)

An 1830 statement titled "Testimony of Three Witnesses"—one statement signed by three men rather than three separate statements—was published at the end of the first edition of the Book of Mormon:

Be it known unto all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, unto whom this work shall come: That we, through the grace of God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, have seen the plates which contain this record, which is a record of the people of Nephi, and also of the Lamanites, his brethren, and also of the people of Jared, who came from the tower of which hath been spoken. And we also know that they have been translated by the gift and power of God, for his voice hath declared it unto us; wherefore we know of a surety that the work is true. And we also testify that we have seeen [sic] the engravings which are upon the plates; and they have been shewn unto us by the power of God, and not of man. And we declare with words of soberness, that an angel of God came down from heaven, and he brought and laid before our eyes, that we beheld and saw the plates, and the engravings thereon; and we know that it is by the grace of God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, that we beheld and bear record that these things are true. And it is marvellous [sic] in our eyes. Nevertheless, the voice of the Lord commanded us that we should bear record of it; wherefore, to be obedient unto the commandments of God, we bear testimony of these things. And we know that if we are faithful in Christ, we shall rid our garments of the blood of all men, and be found spotless before the judgment-seat of Christ, and shall dwell with him eternally in the heavens. And the honor be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, which is one God. Amen.

"Christ taught us to pray not to our mother in heaven but to “Our Father who art in heaven”."

Indeed. "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father." (Galatians 4:6) Yet with Catholic devotion being what it often is, it seems many would rather read, "God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Mama, Mother." (Galatians 4:6)
