Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Exodus 7
The Plague of Blood
14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go. 15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning as he goes out to the river. Confront him on the bank of the Nile, and take in your hand the staff that was changed into a snake. 16 Then say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to say to you: Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the wilderness. But until now you have not listened. 17 This is what the Lord says: By this you will know that I am the Lord: With the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will be changed into blood. 18 The fish in the Nile will die, and the river will stink; the Egyptians will not be able to drink its water.’”
19 The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the reservoirs—and they will turn to blood.’ Blood will be everywhere in Egypt, even in vessels[a] of wood and stone.”
20 Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded. He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood. 21 The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt.
22 But the Egyptian magicians did the same things by their secret arts, and Pharaoh’s heart became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said. 23 Instead, he turned and went into his palace, and did not take even this to heart. 24 And all the Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water, because they could not drink the water of the river.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Blessed and Wonderful is Your Most Holy Name!
How Magnificent,
How Holy,
How Sanctified and Glorious!
When I Awake in the Morning,
You Are There.
All through the day,
You Are With me.
And When I go to Sleep at Night,
You Are Still Watching Over Us All.
For You Neither Slumber Nor Sleep.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

I grew up in the City of Boston, which gets its Drinking Water from the Quabbin Reservoir. It tasted good, right out of the faucet. The same could not be said of neighboring towns, and both of my brothers who bought homes in more upscale areas had to buy bottled water for drinking and cooking. The stuff that came out of the faucet was safe to drink, but tasted terrible.
The town where I now live has water taken from a series of wells and is treated for bacteria. It tastes OK out of the faucet, but is better if chilled in the fridge. I got out of the habit of buying bottled water, because I liked the taste of my Town-Water. My dog didn't mind it either, as long as it was fresh and cold. Imagine my horror when I got a notice from the Water Department that a dangerous chemical had been detected in trace amounts in the very well that served my community. It was reminiscent of the scandal that occurred in Woburn MA that was later turned into a movie called "A Civil Action", starring John Travolta. I mobilized, called my sister and insisted we go to the store together to stock up on drinking water. We both bought cases of the smaller bottles for drinking, and larger jugs of water for cooking. We were lucky...pallets of water were being snapped up by other residents who received the same notice.
About a week later, everybody received a notice that the wells had been flushed and there were no more traces of the offending chemical. But by then I had developed a taste for the bottled water and still buy it on occasion. Tippy doesn't mind as long as it is fresh and cold.
Now we are in the midst of a drought...not as bad as in the Western Part of our Nation, but bad by New England standards. Although we have had some brutal thunderstorms, we have not had a day of gentle sustained rain that replenishes the earth. The affluent community in which I live, where the average price for a house is $850,000.00, features half-acre-sized front lawns that are perfectly manicured and watered with expensive irrigation systems. (For the record, I don't live in this type of home. I am a widow on Social Security and live in a little Mobile Home Park in the same town.) Anyway, as I walk my dog past these beautiful homes, the irrigation systems sometimes snap on and soak us! Tippy thinks it is great fun, but I am not amused.
The Drought has caused the town to demand Water Restrictions and ban the use of automatic sprinkler systems. So now all the lovely lawns are still perfectly manicured, but are BROWN. But....every several houses, there will be one with a lush, green, WET lawn. Prominently displayed is a sign that says:
PRIVATE WELL.
Supposedly, this exonerates the homeowner from the watering ban.
But...however "Private" the well may be, it goes down into the same earth, to the same aquifer, and sucks up the same groundwater as the rest of the town. If the Police and Fire Departments, Schools, and Town Hall all have brown lawns, then why do these particular homeowners feel that their lawn needs to be green this August? And how do I know if they really have a "PRIVATE WELL", anyway? Could it be that they have a "Private Sign" rather than a "Private Well"?
My little rant demonstrates the importance of clean water to a Civilization. All the great cities of the Ancient World (except Jerusalem) were built along rivers. And, since Jerusalem did not have a river, but only the Gihon Spring, Kings David, Solomon, and Hezekiah all authorized great construction projects to bring fresh water into the city.
Egypt was no exeption to this rule. Everything relied upon the yearly inundation of the Nile, bringing rich soil from deep in Africa and depositing it along the way. The yearly flood governed agriculture, politics, and daily life. The Nile was regarded as a god, and consequently, it was Pharaoh's job to keep the Nile God happy and doing his routine year after year. An interruption meant disaster.
And so, the First Sign, involving a snake, mocked the god of Egypt that gave Pharoah his authority. As we discussed yesterday, the Cobra that adorned every crown that Pharaoh wore. Turning the Nile into blood was a judgement upon the god of the Nile. The people had to dig deep wells to get their water from the aquifer rather than from their"god".
A brown lawn is not such a big disaster, but in Egypt, this affected the Food Crops as well. It was only for one week, but it coud have been worse...but the worst was yet to come.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.

Psalm 31
To the leader. A Psalm of David.
1 In you, O Lord, I seek refuge;
do not let me ever be put to shame;
in your righteousness deliver me.
2 Incline your ear to me;
rescue me speedily.
Be a rock of refuge for me,
a strong fortress to save me.
3 You are indeed my rock and my fortress;
for your name’s sake lead me and guide me,
4 take me out of the net that is hidden for me,
for you are my refuge.
5 Into your hand I commit my spirit;
you have redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.
6 You hate* those who pay regard to worthless idols,
but I trust in the Lord.
7 I will exult and rejoice in your steadfast love,
because you have seen my affliction;
you have taken heed of my adversities,
8 and have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy;
you have set my feet in a broad place.
9 Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress;
my eye wastes away from grief,
my soul and body also.
10 For my life is spent with sorrow,
and my years with sighing;
my strength fails because of my misery,*
and my bones waste away.
11 I am the scorn of all my adversaries,
a horror* to my neighbours,
an object of dread to my acquaintances;
those who see me in the street flee from me.
12 I have passed out of mind like one who is dead;
I have become like a broken vessel.
13 For I hear the whispering of many—
terror all around!—
as they scheme together against me,
as they plot to take my life.
14 But I trust in you, O Lord;
I say, ‘You are my God.’
15 My times are in your hand;
deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors.
16 Let your face shine upon your servant;
save me in your steadfast love.
17 Do not let me be put to shame, O Lord,
for I call on you;
let the wicked be put to shame;
let them go dumbfounded to Sheol.
18 Let the lying lips be stilled
that speak insolently against the righteous
with pride and contempt.
19 O how abundant is your goodness
that you have laid up for those who fear you,
and accomplished for those who take refuge in you,
in the sight of everyone!
20 In the shelter of your presence you hide them
from human plots;
you hold them safe under your shelter
from contentious tongues.
21 Blessed be the Lord,
for he has wondrously shown his steadfast love to me
when I was beset as a city under siege.
22 I had said in my alarm,
‘I am driven far* from your sight.’
But you heard my supplications
when I cried out to you for help.
23 Love the Lord, all you his saints.
The Lord preserves the faithful,
but abundantly repays the one who acts haughtily.
24 Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
all you who wait for the Lord.

GM LTOS,
Another great post. Kindly add me to your ping list, as I enjoy your writings and wish to be reminded to join you in these prayers.
On another note, our municiple water is not great, so I filter that water, five gallons at a time. what goes in as very light, almost untetectable yellowish tint, filters out as crystl cler light blue and tastes great. The upfront cost to set it up as about $100 and the filters last about 6-8 months. My big dog now refuses to drink tap water, unless it has been filtered. Smart doggie.
If you, or anyone would like the set-up details, let me know and I’ll compile the links for the needed items.
His best to you
