The Pope said that 'the Church loses its pastoral nature' when Communion is denied to pro-abortion Catholic politicians and that 'it causes a political problem.'
VATICAN CITY (LifeSiteNews) – Pope Francis has broken his silence on the U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which grants states the power to outlaw abortion, saying that bishops must be “pastoral” with pro-abortion politicians.
In a 90-minute interview with Reuters’ Vatican correspondent Philip Pullella, published Monday, the Pope said that while he respected the court’s decision to overturn the landmark 1973 ruling which imposed abortion on all 50 states, he cannot “speak about it from a juridical point of view” because he had not studied the law, the report stated.
Although declining to comment on the once purported, and now overruled, “right” to abortion in the U.S., the pontiff did state his opposition to abortion, likening the barbaric practice to “hiring a hitman” in remarks reminiscent of his 2018 condemnation of abortion.
The Pope asked: “Is it legitimate, is it right, to eliminate a human life to resolve a problem?”
Pullella reportedly questioned Francis on the controversial issue of Catholic politicians receiving Holy Communion while openly supporting the “right” to kill children in the womb, especially in light of Catholic U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi regularly receiving the Eucharist. Pelosi has advocated abortion and subsequently been barred from Holy Communion by her local bishop, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco.

Everything that happens happens either because God willed it to be so, or because God chose to permit it to be so. That’s pretty basic.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
No question about it, but why are you telling me this?
Just to clarify for non-Catholics, fortes fortuna juvat is representing an extremist position in the Catholic Church.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I got a laugh out of your post, so thank you. But you should have addressed your clarification to modernist (liberal) Catholics as well, most all of whom would be right at home in today’s mainline Protestant denominations!
Every TLM includes the “una cum” in the Canon of the Mass which prays in union with the current pope.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Pro forma, my friend, merely pro forma! Wink wink!
Judging by comments here and on most open forum RC posts, that is a majority position. I sympathize somewhat with them, but The scriptural position is even more extremist!
Yes, most of the self-identifying Catholics are modernist and don't even know it. They think being Catholic just means being "conservative" [ie pro-life and anti-homo marriage]. They are completely ecumenical and are completely on board with "religious freedom". Most don't even assist at a TLM, but the dreaded Novus Ordo.
They need to learn the true Catholic Faith as it was taught prior to Vatican II and then look in the mirror before pointing fingers and "warning" others about the so-called "extremists".
There sure are an AWFUL lot of Prots in this here thread!!
Declare anything you want; but it’ll change nothing.
So is this:
You’re just using facts to support your position because that’s all you’ve got. Admit it.
Good you are not a RC (if a evangelical instead), but many TradCaths (as RC apologist Robert Sugenis) also see him as deplorable.
They need to learn the true Catholic Faith as it was taught prior to Vatican II and then look in the mirror before pointing fingers and “warning” others about the so-called “extremists”.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I suspect it’s probably no longer possible because the great majority of Catholics simply have no one in their diocese who knows and understands the true Catholic Faith. And wherever there are potential teachers their bishops would most likely prohibit such “anachronistic” instruction!
Manichaeanism is essentially the heresy that God and the devil are equals, a "good god" versus a "bad god". Christians aren't Manichees.
Not only can the devil only do what God permits him to do, but the devil's very existence is sustained by God moment-to-moment. (As is the existence of every other creature, which is, after all, is what the devil is.)
So why does God permit all of this? The short answer is, "Ask him yourself, when you get to heaven!".
What’s the long answer?
If they have the internet, then they have the means to learn it. Where there is a will, there is a way. I just think a large percentage of them don’t really want to know.
He’s the FJB of the Catholic religion. Wonder what his “boss” thinks of him?

Yep, you make two good points pretty much beyond dispute.
It's probably not something we can completely understand in a satisfying way on this side of heaven, which is why theologians refer to it as "the mystery of iniquity". It's more-or-less a specific case of the general question of "Why does God permit the innocent to suffer?", which Thomas Aquinas said was the only objection to God's existence that had any substance to it.
Because you said that the Holy Spirit played no role in the election of +Francis. That is clearly impossible; like everything else, the Holy Spirit either positively willed it or permitted it to happen.
"All things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose," says St. Paul in Romans 8:28. "All things" including the election of +Francis.
No, I don't claim to understand it either. Maybe I will before I die. Maybe not.
