Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

1 John 1
The Incarnation of the Word of Life
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our[a] joy complete.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Hallowed, Magnified,
and Sanctified is Your Most Holy Name!
How Blessed and How True is Your Word,
and How Mighty!
How Glorious, to Span the Millennia,
To be Unfettered by Time and Space,
To Know The End from the Beginning
and the beginning from The End!
For it is You, Oh LORD,
Who designed the Galaxies with Your Compass,
And Mapped Out the Vast Reaches of Space With Your Word
and Your Omniscient imagination!
Scientists tell us even the heavens are finite.
But YOU are Infinite!
LORD, remind us ALWAYS to Worship You,
and not Your Creation.
Your creation is there but to proclaim YOUR GLORY.
Hallelujah and Amen.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
God Bless America.

Scholars debate about The Apostle John, but, then again, "scholars" debate about EVERYTHING. Some say that John didn't write the Gospel of John, that John didn't write John's Letters of 1, 2, and 3 John, and that John of Patmos was a different John than John The Evangelist, Letter-Writing John, and John the Apostle. Whatever. Academia has been known to come up with outrageous nonsense just to stir up debate (look at the "1619 Project", "Critical Race Theory" and today's "Gender Confusion" to get good examples.
As for me, I believe that John the Apostle was John the Evangelist, John the Letter-Writer, and John the Revalator. I glean this opinion from Scripture itself. The writing style, use of language, emphasis on Love, and even the starkly similar salutations of all of the Johannine writings speak to me as from one person, the Apostle John.
Here's what we know about John from the Gospels:
He and his brother James had been Galilee Fishermen and were the sons of Zebedee.
Along with Peter and Andrew, were among the first disciples of Jesus.
Along with Peter and James, John was witness to The Transfiguration and the Raising of Jairus's Daughter from the Dead.
Along with Peter and James, John was closer to Jesus at Gethsemane than the other disciples (but he still fell asleep).
John was the only disciple to stand at the foot of the Cross with Mary and the other women.
John was the person Jesus chose to take care of His Mother after His death.
We can also infer from Scripture that John was "The Disciple Jesus Loved" and the youngest of the Apostles. Tradition has it that John was the only Apostle who died a natural death.
John is an important figure in the Book of Acts, and was a leader of the Early Church in Jerusalem.
And so, here we have the first of three of John's personal letters. It opens with an exposition of the Mystery of the Incarnation...Just like The Gospel of John. This is the kind of Expository Prayer, which is a Testimony to Faith.
Prayer plus Teaching equals "Preaching", so all of us need to be careful about Expository Prayer. While John obviously knew what he was doing, he was, after all, John the Apostle, and it was his job to preach. He was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write what he wrote. On the other hand, I have seen folks ask for prayer and get a lecture instead. That is not helpful. When somebody asks for prayer, they are not asking for medical advice, theories as to why there is a need, a lecture on doctrine, or any other kind of unhelpful debate. The person is asking for PRAYER, and that is what they should be getting. As Believers, we need to be aware of the temptation to preach instead of pray. I have been guilty of this myslf, so I know whereof I speak. If you have experienced this from me, I beg your forgiveness. (It is a particular stumbling block with me! I can't help it. I'm a teacher!).
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Amen !!! <><
From my readings last night. Makes me wonder:
Ezekiel 5:5-9
5 Thus says the Lord God: This is Jerusalem; I have set her in the center of the nations, with countries all around her. 6But she has rebelled against my ordinances and my statutes, becoming more wicked than the nations and the countries all around her, rejecting my ordinances and not following my statutes. 7Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you are more turbulent than the nations that are all around you, and have not followed my statutes or kept my ordinances, but have acted according to the ordinances of the nations that are all around you; 8therefore thus says the Lord God: I, I myself, am coming against you; I will execute judgements among you in the sight of the nations. 9And because of all your abominations, I will do to you what I have never yet done, and the like of which I will never do again

Yes...I read that in today’s News Feed as well. It is profoundly disturbing for our Nation.

AMEN!
I second your caution about staying in your lane. I, too, have the gift of teaching, but several opportunities to preach in a pinch-hitting capacity have demonstrated starkly to me the need for the gift of preaching. Once understood so viscerally, it's been fun to watch those who do have it, exercise it.

To paraphrase an old wag—John didn’t write 1,2,3 John, but it was written by a different man of the same name. :)

LOL! My brother couldn’t afford a plumber, so he was going to attempt to install a toilet by himself. He asked me if I knew how to do it.
I responded that he should probably pray for wisdom before disconnecting anything.
“There’s NOTHING in the Bible about installing a toilet,” he sneered.
“Why of cousre there is” I replied, “First John! And make sure you use a New American Standard as your rplacement.”
I can be so BAD sometimes. :-)
