Ex-Hasid comes out as trans while translating kids’ book on sexuality into Yiddish

JTA — Among the most challenging decisions Lili Rosen had to make while translating a children’s book about sexuality into Yiddish was what name to put on the cover.

When Rosen began work on “You Be You” in March 2020, she wasn’t yet Lili. She had a long resume of translation and cultural consulting work, including on the Netflix hit show “Unorthodox” and Seth Rogen’s “An American Pickle,” all under the name she had been given by her Hasidic Orthodox parents in Brooklyn when she was identified as male at birth.

But as she translated the book aimed at explaining topics like gender fluidity and sexuality to children during the early months of the pandemic, Rosen found herself considering her own gender identity. By the summer of 2021, she was attending public events in feminine clothing and by the fall had begun to use her new name.

Gender fluidity is an academic construct/theory that managed to subvert its way into clinical psychiatry. It is no more than a “sympathetic” escape mechanism allowing the psychiatrist the “dispensation” from admitting their “gender confused” client has a mental problem. So instead of getting to the root of the problem they get to tell their client “just relax” and “be whatever you want to be”, even when that denies 100%, and goes against, the biology stated in every cell of their body.

Giving in to identity dysphoria is to me no different than mental health professionals telling addicts that the best solution is to find ways that keep the addiction satisfied, not to fight it.

How does one “come out” as trans, when all one has to do to become trans is declare by voice or in social media: “I’m trans.” The declaration is = to the “coming out.”

No one is trans. Everyone is the sex that he/she had at birth. Some people want to look and act like the other sex. That is their right. But they don’t have the right to force other people to accept the new sex declaration.
