Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Acts 2
The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost
2 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.
5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,[b] 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Abba Father,
How Awesome You Are!
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The Most High!
You Alone Are The One True God Of Abraham,
You Are The King of Kings,
LORD of Lords,
and Rock of All Ages,
Our Creator,
You Are Before All Things,
And In You All Things Hold Together.
Your Loving Kindness Is from Everlasting To Everlasting.
Even When We Are Unfaithful,
You Are Always Faithful.
Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
Let all that has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.
God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Some reputable Bible teachers may disagree with me about the Gifts of the Spirit in our own time, and others agree, so let's just look at the Passage in relationship to Prayer.
Before Jesus ascended into Heaven, He promised the Apostles that He would send them "Another Comforter", Who would empower them to go forth and spread the Good News of Salvation. We understand that this meant that He would be sending The Holy Spirit. The instructions of Jesus were that the Apostles should "Wait" in Jerusalem for this event. We talked about "Waiting" as a form of Prayer in yesterday's Thread. Now, I confess, I am a very impatient person, and I find "Waiting" to be most difficult. Nevertheless, it is an excercise in Faith, Patience, and Trust. One would not wait patiently for someone if there were not the trust and anticipation that the person WILL show up. Without Faith and Trust, the waiting is pointless. For what other reason would the Apostles and other Disciples wait for ten days in a cramped little room after Jesus left them? They knew that He would keep His Promise to them.
Sometimes we think that our prayers aren't answered. But sometimes the answer is..."WAIT."
Come and pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)
God Bless America.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Psalm 28
Of David.
1 To you, O Lord, I call;
my rock, do not refuse to hear me,
for if you are silent to me,
I shall be like those who go down to the Pit.
2 Hear the voice of my supplication,
as I cry to you for help,
as I lift up my hands
towards your most holy sanctuary.*
3 Do not drag me away with the wicked,
with those who are workers of evil,
who speak peace with their neighbours,
while mischief is in their hearts.
4 Repay them according to their work,
and according to the evil of their deeds;
repay them according to the work of their hands;
render them their due reward.
5 Because they do not regard the works of the Lord,
or the work of his hands,
he will break them down and build them up no more.
6 Blessed be the Lord,
for he has heard the sound of my pleadings.
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts;
so I am helped, and my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him.
8 The Lord is the strength of his people;
he is the saving refuge of his anointed.
9 O save your people, and bless your heritage;
be their shepherd, and carry them for ever.

I lost a place as a finalist in a middle school spelling bee (and a trip to Annapolis for the state championship) by misspelling the word you just misspelled, “exercise.” Never mind the teacher mispronounced it. I got it wrong and was deeply embarrassed. I had to wait nearly 70 years to find a kindred spirit. Thank you and thank you for the daily lessons, particularly this one on patience.

The Holy Spirit has an honored place in Methodism again. With the advent of the Global Methodist church gifts of the Spirit will once again, as in the days of Wesley, be honored.

I misspell a lot lot more than that! LOL.
I still remember the time I came in 2nd in a Spelling Bee to a girl named Beth D. That was in the 1st Grade. I was devastated, and never forgot my resentment of Beth beating me.
Years later, when I was an activities director in a Nursing Home and there was a pateint with the same last name. I asked her if she was related to Beth. Sure enough, she was Beth’s Grandmother. I related the story. The Grandmother said, “So YOU’RE Mary-Lou??? Beth admired you so much!”
I could have had a life long friend but allowed jealousy to prevent it from happening.
