Miracle Meadows School Abuse Lawsuit Settles For $52 Million
Pennsylvania Injury Law News ^ | November 3, 2021 | Laurence P. Banville

Lawyers that are partnered with Justice Guardians, Brian Kent and Jesse Forbes, recently announced a settlement in a horrifying instance of child physical and sexual abuse at Miracle Meadows Christian boarding school in West Virginia. On behalf of 29 victims, the settlement was $52,000,000 (fifty two million dollars).

Is There Still Time To Submit A Claim?

The statute of limitations is a legal term that refers to the amount of time a victim of abuse has to make a claim. If you or a loved one was sexually or physically abused at Miracle Meadows in West Virginia, you should contact an attorney right away to see if your claim is admissible under the stringent time constraints. Do not put it off any longer. You could be entitled to significant monetary compensation to help you on your way to recovery.

Under West Virginia new child sexual abuse laws, individuals who are currently 36 (thirty six) years old or younger, who suffered childhood sexual abuse, may still bring civil claims against the perpetrators and enablers of abuse. This type of legal analysis is best reserved to attorneys experienced in evaluating the facts of such cases, so please contact an attorney regarding the applicable statute of limitations in your case. What Had Been Going On At Miracle Meadows?

Given the details of abuse disclosed in this civil litigation, the school has now been closed, which is a just consequence. Several horrifying incidents of abuse were recorded by the settlement’s clients, including:

* severe seclusion while duct-taped or shackled to a chair in a cramped space

* “Quarantine” entailed being fed only rice and beans for weeks, if not months, at a period.

* a number of savage beatings and physical abuse sexual assault and exploitation

* starvation

The Miracle Meadows Lawsuit’s Background

The boarding school first opened its doors in 1987 and closed its doors in 2014. The school’s mission was to help youngsters aged seven to seventeen who had behavioral problems. Unfortunately, the school’s position of trust was compromised due to the actions and omissions of administrators and certain employees. Over the years, the pupils have been subjected to unspeakable acts of cruelty and hardship. Susan Gayle Clark, the Miracle Meadows administrator, covered up and suppressed the abuse. Local government and law enforcement were aware of abuse claims at the school as early as 1994, but administrators used a scorched earth strategy to ensure that all investigations concluded without a scandal, allowing the school to continue its reign of terror over its kids.

Evidence of abuse accumulated over time. The fact that the youngsters arrived from all across the United States and other nations was a dilemma for local authorities. The child would be brought back home as soon as they made progress in their inquiry, and direct testimony would be unavailable. Miracle Meadows hired people from all over the world, and before they could be quizzed about what they saw, they were sent back and their work visas were revoked. For many years, this control mechanism allowed the institution to operate in such a heinous manner. Susan Gale Clark and Timothy Arrington are facing charges after a raid on Miracle Meadows.

Finally, in 2014, West Virginia law enforcement officials gathered enough evidence to justify storming the facility to ensure the students’ safety. Nineteen pupils were removed from the school when it was forced to close. Susan Gayle Clark, the administrator, was arrested and charged with child negligence, obstruction of justice, and failure to report. She was sentenced to 6 months in prison and 5 years on probation. Mr. Timothy Arrington, another lead teacher at Miracle Meadows, was also arrested on charges of choking and inflicting serious physical abuse on children.

52 million, even divided by 27 that is still antihistamine money (nothing to sneeze at).

Want to reduce child abuse in these sorts of centers? Fire all psychologists and related professions. hire real, decent people... not frauds and charlatans.

first of all PARENTS you know the people who had these kids in the first place? They need to do research into these schools. Do background checks, references, visit the site BEFORE sending your child there.

Then if you send you kid there make unexpected visits to the place. I mean at 2 am if necessary. IF they tell you you are not allowed to see your child at the site for any reason THAT IS A RED FLAG and do not send your child there. I shit you not some of these schools have made such a rule and parents actually go by that. Oh hell no if I want to see my child when ever I will. THAT IS MY CHILD.

What it really boils down to? The majority of the parents who send their kids to places like this? They were ain’t shit parents to start with. You know the kind who take their small child with them when mom goes to have an abortion. Yea..that ain’t shit.

More likely 26 million divided between 29 victims (that the number the story states). The lawyers will split half of the 52 million right off the top (13 million for each lawyer). So, if the number stands at 29, that means each victim will receive 896,551.72.

So, it is really good for the lawyers, as usual, and moderately good for the victims.

52 million is the highest number I’ve seen for one of these boarding schools. In fact I believe it is the highest number to date. Yes I know the ambulance chasers will get their cut but I’m still glad it was this high because there are other schools out there that need their asses kicked and looks like this law firm does good ass kicking.

If a small, fairly recently established, “Christian” boarding school has $52 million in assets, there are bigger issues that should be investigated. And if they had an insurance policy that large without due diligence from the insurer, then there needs to be an investigation there.

I wonder how many people will “self identify” as a victim in order to collect?

“So, it is really good for the lawyers, as usual, and moderately good for the victims. “

Where will that 52 million come from? Could the federal government be one of the payers?

Well, that's another issue altogether, and one that I haven't even considered. 😋

If there is no money, then they all get screwed I guess. 🙂

It’s true that parents need to take responsibility for their children’s safety, but parents are not the only ones failing these kids - society as a whole is sending mixed messages about sexual deviancy.

I think ‘woke’ society is working feverishly to normalize all manner of sexual deviancy - it should come as no surprise that we get more sexual deviancy.

In order to re-program children to be tolerant and inclusive of homosexuality and transsexuality, they are being exposed to these abnormalities at far too young an age, and made to think they are not abnormalities at all.

In fact, the children are being made to feel that THEY must be abnormal if they DON’T experience deviant sexual feelings. Even worse, they are forced to explore these issues long before they would naturally begin to develop sexual feelings.

Then there is the mixed message that society is sending to potential sexual predators… that every sexual urge is normal and acceptable. That is not much of a deterrent to sexual predators .

I think children were safer from sexual predators back in the old days, when perverts had to fear for their lives if caught.

You’d be surprised how much assets they have, and all of them have insurance.

While that is one reason kids are sent to these schools that is not the only reason.

Some reasons are because kids “talked back” to the parents.

Some do drugs/alcohol

Some have problems with depression
another?

Would you believe some of the kids at the boarder are sent to some of these places? Yep not enough foster homes so one favorite place to send them is Agape Boys Ranch in Missouri which is not under investigation and also being sued by former students. None of these kids speak English and are often punished for it at these “good Christian Schools” /sarc

Some of these schools have down syndrome and autistic kids along side with kids who are gang members. It’s a “one size fits all “ mentality” far worse than the public school could ever hope to be.

Don’t worry I will be posting more on this in the future, you have no idea how deep this rabbit hole goes.

Yeah, my bad - I momentarily lost track of the fact that this thread was about these “Christian” boarding schools.

My comment was directed at education in general - the woke crap being shoved down everyone’s throats - in all schools and workplaces.

It was in that context that I was saying the parents are not the only ones at fault - it’s society at large. But now that I realize you were referring to these “christian” boarding schools in particular - I see what you mean and I agree.

Not all are but majority. The one Paris Hilton went to was secular and they were just as bad. Then there is the one Oprah’s girlfriend Dr. Phil sends kids too, that one has kids coming out saying they were abused physically, sexually, emotionally.

Why am I being extra harsh on these Christian ones? Why would I not be for one? They give us a bad name. They reinforce the sterotype. We need to clean up our own house or the government will by passing more laws on these type of schools, more state and federal regulations. Like what is in Canada? Then the religious right will cry foul but the proof that it is needed will be there.
