Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Isaiah 25
Praise to the Lord
25 Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for in perfect faithfulness
you have done wonderful things,
things planned long ago.
2 You have made the city a heap of rubble,
the fortified town a ruin,
the foreigners’ stronghold a city no more;
it will never be rebuilt.
3 Therefore strong peoples will honor you;
cities of ruthless nations will revere you.
4 You have been a refuge for the poor,
a refuge for the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the storm
and a shade from the heat.
For the breath of the ruthless
is like a storm driving against a wall
5 and like the heat of the desert.
You silence the uproar of foreigners;
as heat is reduced by the shadow of a cloud,
so the song of the ruthless is stilled.
6 On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare
a feast of rich food for all peoples,
a banquet of aged wine—
the best of meats and the finest of wines.
7 On this mountain he will destroy
the shroud that enfolds all peoples,
the sheet that covers all nations;
8 he will swallow up death forever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears
from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace
from all the earth.
The Lord has spoken.
9 In that day they will say,
“Surely this is our God;
we trusted in him, and he saved us.
This is the Lord, we trusted in him;
let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
10 The hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain;
but Moab will be trampled in their land
as straw is trampled down in the manure.
11 They will stretch out their hands in it,
as swimmers stretch out their hands to swim.
God will bring down their pride
despite the cleverness[a] of their hands.
12 He will bring down your high fortified walls
and lay them low;
he will bring them down to the ground,
to the very dust.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Bless the LORD,
Oh My Soul,
and let All That is Within Me Bless His Most Holy Name!
Abba, Father,
We Praise and Worship You,
You Alone Are Worthy of Worship and Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
As the Nations Rage So Furiously Against You,
And Against Your People,
We Know That You Are Our Shelter,
Our Strength and our Song,
Our Refuge in Times of Trouble,
Our Rock and Our Redeemer!
Father, We Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Pray That You Will Forgive The Sins
of Our Own Nation,
and Lead us all to Godly Repentance.
Create in Us Clean Hearts, Oh LORD,
and Renew a Right Spirit Within Us.
This we Pray Together,
As We Await Your Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Set Up His Kingdom,
And Make All Things Right.
Let all that has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.
God Bless America.

Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem

Most of us think of Isaiah as a Mighty Prophet, but he was also a Man of Prayer. A few of his prayers are recorded in his Book, but I am sure that many more that are unrecorded, and were just between him and God. Fortunately we have the few that he wrote down.
Once again, I am reminded of William Shatner's reaction to his sub-orbital space flight. All "Captain Kirk" could do was be overwhelmed by the beauty and wonder of it all. The Beauty, however, had always been there. It was the same sight Alan Shepherd saw over 60 years ago, before Space was even called "The Final Frontier". The Earth and the Blackness of Space didn't need to hear Captain Kirk's Praise, but Captain Kirk needed to praise what he had seen.
In this Prayer, Isaiah acknowledges God's greatness. This is Praise. God, Who is Omniscient, doesn't need Isaiah to praise Him, but Isaiah needs to praise God. It is a response to God's Glory. In my humble opinion, ALL prayer should begin with Praise. It should be natural and sincere because it is TRUE and God is Worthy of it.
Isaiah's Prayer is also one of Thanksgiving. He lists all the great Things God has done in both his life and in the history of his Nation. This type of prayer, cataloguing God's Mighty Deeds, is featured in many Psalms.
Isaiah then lists God's more personal acts of kindness toward the poor and the needy. So, God works not only at the Global and National level, but with the Individual as well.
Next, Isaiah expresses confidence in God's Goodness. It is one thing to be Great, it is quite another to be both Great and Good!
This Prayer continues tomorrow with Isaiah 26.

Psalm 63
A Psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Judah.
1 O God, you are my God, I seek you,
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
3 Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
4 So I will bless you as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands and call on your name.
5 My soul is satisfied as with a rich feast,*
and my mouth praises you with joyful lips
6 when I think of you on my bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
7 for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy.
8 My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.
9 But those who seek to destroy my life
shall go down into the depths of the earth;
10 they shall be given over to the power of the sword,
they shall be prey for jackals.
11 But the king shall rejoice in God;
all who swear by him shall exult,
for the mouths of liars will be stopped.
