BRATISLAVA, Slovakia — Pope Francis told Slovakia’s Catholics on Monday that the Church should respond to secularization with the “creativity of the Gospel,” not “a defensive Catholicism.”
Speaking to clergy and lay people in St Martin’s Cathedral in the capital, Bratislava, on Sept. 13, the Pope encouraged Catholics to draw inspiration from Sts. Cyril and Methodius, who translated the Bible into the Slavonic language.
“Isn’t this what Slovakia also needs today? I wonder. Isn’t this perhaps the most urgent task facing the Church before the peoples of Europe: finding new ‘alphabets’ to proclaim the faith?” he asked.
“We are heirs to a rich Christian tradition, yet for many people today, that tradition is a relic from the past; it no longer speaks to them or affects the way they live their lives.”
“Faced with the loss of the sense of God and of the joy of faith, it is useless to complain, to hide behind a defensive Catholicism, to judge and blame the evil world. No, we need the creativity of the Gospel.”

I hope you’re wrong. I was reading it as, “Hey traditional Catholics. Quit complaining about me wanting you to do the mass in the regional language so everybody can hear the message of Jesus instead of some of you doing Latin-only masses that only a few people can understand”. If I’m reading it right, I’m actually agreeing with him.

Omg...Latin Masses were around for HUNDREDS of years...and the CHURCH was growing and strong....now we have awful parents that don’t send their kids to CATHOLIC SCHOOLS!!

Often enough, the vernacular Mass ends up being "the message of Father Thus-and-Such" because he's adlibbing the prayers all over the place.
There was one priest around here who insisted on giving a blow-by-blow account of what he was doing at each point in the Mass: "And now I'm going to ... and this means ...".
Imagine a play where the actors "break the fourth wall" repeatedly to tell the audience the meaning of what they're about to do or say. Unwatchable? You betcha.

It’s almost incredible how we have a “pope” whose unrelenting message is the exact opposite of what it should be.
In a time of unprecedented attacks upon the Christian faith from an atheistic, secular, homo-pervert culture, we have Bergoglio out there basically saying, “Don’t be so defensive. All of this so-called evil is a figment of your imagination and rigid hang-ups. Embrace the world.”

I don’t think it’s going to work out but I could be wrong the Catholic Church could become a LGBTQ-whatever sin you prefer Church.
