Pope responds to Israeli criticism over comments on Jewish law

VATICAN CITY, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Pope Francis has moved to allay Jewish concerns over comments he made about their books of sacred law, following a demand for clarification from Israel's top rabbis, Vatican and Jewish community sources said on Monday.

Last month Reuters reported exclusively that Rabbi Rasson Arousi, chair of the Commission of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel for Dialogue with the Holy See, had written a stern letter to the Vatican, saying Francis' comments appeared to suggest that the Torah, or Jewish law, was obsolete. read more

At a general audience on Aug. 11, the pope said: "The law (Torah) however does not give life."

"It does not offer the fulfilment of the promise because it is not capable of being able to fulfil it ... Those who seek life need to look to the promise and to its fulfilment in Christ.

Someone who claims to know how incorrect the Catholic Church is and doesn’t even know what a rosary is!

Actually, the reverse is true.

First, because the doctrine of Sola Scriptura is man-made; second, because the Protties schism'd of the Catholic Church (not the Orthodox). So if you take out everything Catholic, there's nothing for the Protties to schism out from.

Oh and thinks it might be a “tradition” or “Tradition” when it is neither!

Christians In History: William Tyndale (1494-1536)
If you read any of the most popular translations of the New Testament, whether the King James Version (KJV), New International Version (NIV), New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), or New American Bible (NAB), you will read the work of William Tyndale. Often called the Father of the English Bible, he may be the single most important Bible translator in history.

Tyndale lived during The Renaissance and the Protestant Reformation, which were periods of religious, artistic, political and economic upheaval in Europe following the Middle Ages. He was a brilliant linguist who was adept in many languages, including the original languages of the New Testament (Greek) and Old Testament (Hebrew).

In Tyndale’s time it was forbidden to produce an English language Bible. The Word of God was controlled by religious authorities who could read and understand Latin. Tyndale, like his contemporary Martin Luther, believed that all people should have access to sacred texts. He once promised that he would “cause the boy that driveth the plow to know more of the Scriptures” than the clergy.

Eph. 6:13-17. This is our ministry, as members of the Church the Body of Christ.

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye mat be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all, TO STAND.”
“STAND therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;”
“And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;”
“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherein ye shall be able to quench to all the fiery darts of the wicked,”
“And take the helmet of salvation, and THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, WHICH IS THE WORD OF GOD.”

(Sorry, ebb tide, this says the word of God is the sword if the spirit. NOT, the RCC and it’s traditions and man made doctrines.

2 Tim. 4:2-4.
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; REPROVE, REBUKE, EXHORT with ALL LONGSUFFERING and DOCTRINE”.

THIS is why we STAND and protect God’s word.
THIS is what Catholism is missing. Traditions, and man made doctrines get you nothing.

“Martin Luther, believed that all people should have access to sacred texts.”

So long as ones personal interpretation from reading those texts agreed with him as he thought his interpretations where “infalliable” (Oh the irony!)

You are factually incorrect.
Sola Scriptura does not claim to induce telepathy.
Funny how so many American Evangelicals act like it does.

Perhaps you missed it, I will repeat the Word of God:
2 Timothy 3:15-17
King James Version
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Its not me you have an issue with. Its the Word of God you argue against. Tread carefully my friend, the last thing you want to do is to take that argument to your grave and then have to stand before God at The White Throne Judgement (assuming you are not Born Again and thus, your name not written in the Book of Life)

As for the Scriptures, God Inspired them, I just quote them.

Traditions, and man made doctrines get you nothing.

You poor soul, I'll pray for you.

Tradition is in scripture; "sola scriptura", a man-made doctrine (Luther), is not in scripture.

2 Thes 2:15, “So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter.” Traditions! Traditions taught by word of mouth, in other words, oral tradition, and traditions taught by letter. Traditions which they are being told to “stand firm and hold to”. Sacred Scripture and

1 Cor 11:2, “I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I have delivered them to you.” The Corinthians are being commended by Paul because they maintain the traditions that he passed on to them. Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition.

2 Tim 2:2: “and what you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” What we have here in 2 Timothy is an instance, in Scripture, of Paul commanding the passing on of oral tradition.

1 Thes 2:13, “And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the Word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the Word of God, which is at work in you believers.” So, they received as the Word of God that which they heard, not simply that which they read in Scripture.

Response:

Actually Tyndall was never presented to be “infallible” in fact only God Himself is Infallible. That includes His Inspired Word.

And false doctrine whose “head” teaches he himself as head of the catholic church is “infallible” is a lie from the pit of he’ll, located beneath the seven hills of Rome.;>)

Oh the irony indeed!

Because the Rosary is mentioned so many times in God’s word.../s and lol. why do RCs think they are proving their points by pulling traditions, doctrines of men, letters and opinions from early church fathers, visions from saints, diaries of first cousins if popes, etc. out of their delapedated cart of RCC “knowledge”?? Do you think if you say them enough they will be true?

You just don’t get it. If it’s a tradition or a doctrine that is NOT found in God’s word, then it is useless. We are to “preach the WORD” (2 Tim.4:2), NOT the catechism and the opining of lost man. We are to take up the Sword of the Spirit, which is THE WORD OF GOD (Eph.6:17). NOT the catechism or visions and messages from lost people to lost people.

I don’t care how laden down your RCC Cart of Knowledge is. It contains nothing that is found in God’s word. Nothing that is beneficial to the Gospel of the Grace of God. It’s busy work of fallen men, by men and to men by fallen men.

Why don't you take that up with Martin Luther. He dropped 7 books from the OT that were declared canonical by multiple church councils before he was born, were found in the Septuagint, etc.

The rules that the rabbis enacted to remove them *after the Resurrection* also deny the canonicity of the NT.

The Bible is from God, to man, for man. It is never changing.
These men were moved by the Holy Spirit to write down God’s message to man. It was finished when the last words of the last verse of Revelation was given to man.
THAT’S why it is the final authority of God. So that fallel men would not add to or take from His message in order to create new messages, like traditions of fallen men and doctrines of fallen man.

The confusion and ignorance on this thread is astounding and disappointing. It appears almost no one here who calls himself a Christian even understands that The Word informs the Torah, the Psalms, the Books of Wisdom and the prophets; the gospels and the apostles, and the Revelation of John Patmos.

Y’all need to read The Gospel of St. John and what’s more important, understand the Gospel of St John. and that includes the idiot Bergoglio.
