Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 150
1 Praise the Lord.[a]
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
2 Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
4 praise him with timbrel and dancing,
praise him with the strings and pipe,
5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.

Blessed Are You Oh LORD, Our God,
King of the Universe,
Ancient of Days,

Rock of All Ages!
1. Praise the LORD!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
Everything that exists
Owes its very Existence to You, Father!
The Very Heavens Sing of Your Glory!
All of Creation is Your Handiwork,
And its Endless Variety and Beauty Speaks only of You!
2. Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
3. Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
4. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
5. Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
We Are Overwhelmed With Your Glory!
It is a JOY to praise Your Name!
6. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD!
Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.
LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.
We Pray For Our Beloved USA
We Ask That Your People Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Yesterday was a Day of Joy for both my family and my church. First of all, it was the 50th Anniversay of my church. We have been planning the celebration for a year. Even though the KUZZACOVID RULES seemed to lurk ahead, and we had no idea if the State would put the kibosh on our celebration, we went forth in faith that we would be able to celebrate and invite the whole community. Of course the "enemy" didn't like that, so we encountered a lot of roadblocks.
As the day approached, I got an invitation to a Baby Shower on the same day. This was in honor of my beloved neice, the only daughter of my younger sister, who has also been my best friend for over a half-century. The Mother-to-Be, who was conceived under very grim circumstances (we'll leave it at that) is gorgeous, brilliant, and is a Research Scientist in the Medical Field. This baby will be my sister's first and probably only grandchild. So, OF COURSE, I had to attend! I wouldn't want it any other way. So, I informed my Pastor and the Worship Team that I would play during the Service, but as soon as the Music was over, I would have to pack up my bass and leave. I would try to be as unobtrusive as possible. I would miss the fun, but at least I would do my part during the Worship Portion of the Service, although THAT is fun too. Then I would hurry home, pick up my other sister and her husband (who has Alzheimer's) and ferry them to the Baby Shower that was being held in a little wine bar in a Northwest suburb of Boston. It was all set. I knew what to do.
The first song started out great. Kyle, the Lead Guitarist, and I have really started to "click" musically, and we were improvising a duet as the music built to a crescendo and the Team burst into joyous song. Then my bass cut out! Instantly, I laid it face down on the amp, turned off the power, and got a new battery and my trusty screwdriver. Alex, a member of the Worship Team, was instantly at my side unscrewing the back of the bass. We inserted a new battery and turned the amp back on. Nothing. OK...it's the cord! But there were three cords involved. So Alex and I methodically tested them one by one, and, of course, it was the third cord. So Alex replaced that one and I whispered, "Throw the broken one away, right now." Then I stood up, strapped on the bass and finished the song, The Song Leader turned to me afterward and said "The devil is a LIAR!" and I replied, "I KNOW". Anyway, the music continued with no more problems and I packed up and headed for my car.
I called my sister on my flip phone to tell her I was on my way, and she said they wouldn't be going after all because her hubby was "having a very bad day". Anyone who has cared for an impaired elderly person can only imagine what was entailed. I let her express her unhappiness because I am a good listener, even though it is illegal in Massachusetts to talk on a cell phone and drive at the same time.
Then I saw the blue lights in my rear view mirror and traffic congestion ahead. I hung up on Sis and concentrated on my driving, hoping that my infraction would not land me in jail.
Thank God the Blue Lights weren't for me after all, but there was a big accident ahead, involving four Patrol Cars from two towns, two fire trucks, two ambulances and two tow trucks. I said a prayer for the occupants of the vehicles involved, as, so far, it is NOT illegal to pray and drive in Massachusetts, just as long as you don't close your eyes when you pray.
I got home, answered a few folks who had posted on this thread, walked the dog, and proceeded to go to the Shower, which involved Rt3, (The only road back to Boston from Cape Cod), and the INFAMOUS "Braintree-Split" an engineering nightmare from the mid-twentieth centruy in which no fewer than 5 Interstate highways converge (Rt 3, I95, I24,I93, and Route 128 (The Inner Beltway, where North goes South and South goes North), along with millions of tourists who decided that, due to the gloomy weather, they would head home early from Cape Cod. The entire highway system southwest of Boston seemed like a huge parking lot. All the way, I kept quoting the Song Leader: "The devil is a LIAR." Anyway, I made it to the Shower on time and had a WONDERFUL time.
I got an Email from Church expressing that the Anniversay Celebration was awesome as well. God is Good!
Psalm 150 is a glorious song of Praise. While it is easy to praise God when everything is going well, it is impossible to praise when one is in the midst of worry. Worry and Praise are antithetical, because worry indicates a lack of trust in God. When it is difficult to Praise in the middle of conflict and bad events, and we praise God anyway, it becomes a Sacrifice and a form of Worship. And that, my FRiends, is what this Thread is all about.

1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
