Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 140[a]

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

1  Rescue me, Lord, from evildoers;
    protect me from the violent,

2  who devise evil plans in their hearts
    and stir up war every day.

3  They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s;
    the poison of vipers is on their lips.[b]

4  Keep me safe, Lord, from the hands of the wicked;
    protect me from the violent,
    who devise ways to trip my feet.

5  The arrogant have hidden a snare for me;
    they have spread out the cords of their net
    and have set traps for me along my path.

6  I say to the Lord, “You are my God.”
    Hear, Lord, my cry for mercy.

7  Sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer,
    you shield my head in the day of battle.

8  Do not grant the wicked their desires, Lord;
    do not let their plans succeed.

9  Those who surround me proudly rear their heads;
    may the mischief of their lips engulf them.

10  May burning coals fall on them;
    may they be thrown into the fire,
    into miry pits, never to rise.

11  May slanderers not be established in the land;
    may disaster hunt down the violent.

12  I know that the Lord secures justice for the poor
    and upholds the cause of the needy.

13  Surely the righteous will praise your name,
    and the upright will live in your presence.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father In Heaven,
How Blessed and Hallowed is Your Most Wonderful and Holy Name!
You Alone are Worthy To Be Praised and Worshiped,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
The Creator, Sustainer, and Destroyer of All Things.

1. Deliver me, O LORD, from evil men;
Preserve me from violent men,
2. Who plan evil things in their hearts;
They continually gather together for war.
3 They sharpen their tongues like a serpent;
The poison of asps is under their lips. (Selah)

Abba Father, There is So Much Evil in our World!
Every Day we hear another story of how the wicked plot together
Against You, or against the people who love You.
Every Day, Another leak,
another lie,
another revelation of duplicity,
Of plots and schemes.
Expose them to the Light, Oh LORD!
For their wickedness can flourish only under the cover of darkness.

4. Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked;
Preserve me from violent men,
Who have purposed to make my steps stumble.
5. The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords;
They have spread a net by the wayside;
They have set traps for me. (Selah)

6. I said to the LORD: “You are my God;
Hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.
7. O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation,
You have covered my head in the day of battle.
8. Do not grant, O LORD, the desires of the wicked;
Do not further his wicked scheme,
Lest they be exalted. (Selah)

We Pray especially against the evil snares set by enemies,
In the form of suicide bombs, IED's,
clothing bombs and the like,
Which are evil, dishonorable, and vile.
We pray for the protection of Our Troops in harm’s way,
and for our people trapped in Afghanistan .

We Pray, Father, That Your relieve the Anxieties of Our People,
So that the wicked will not even have a "victory" over our minds and hearts.

9. “As for the head of those who surround me,
Let the evil of their lips cover them;
10. Let burning coals fall upon them;
Let them be cast into the fire,
Into deep pits, that they rise not up.
11. Let not a slanderer be established in the earth;
Let evil hunt the violent man to overthrow him.”

According To Your Word, Dear Father,
Let Whoever digs a pit to ensnare others,
Fall into it himself.

12. I know that the LORD will maintain
The cause of the afflicted,
And justice for the poor.
13. Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name;
The upright shall dwell in Your presence.

Let All That Has Been Concealed,
Be Revealed.

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our Beloved USA
We Ask That Your People Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Recently, I was enthralled by a series on PBS called "Victoria". Since all I knew about the British Queen came from Gilbert & Sullivan Operas, I learned a lot about the Young Victoria, and the difficulties of her early reign. One of the more dramatic segments of the series were centered around the fledgeling queen during what the British call The Afghanistan Disaster. It nearly derailed the reign of Victoria, who was barely out of her teens at the time.

It can be argued that the Soviet War in Afghanistan contributed to the demise of that huge empire. Certainly, the USSR was an EVIL empire, and deserved to fall, but who would have thought that Afghanistan would have been in the mix?

I love the study of History, but hate seeing the same mistakes repeated over and over again. As the philosopher George Santayana is reported to have said:

"Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Please take this moment to pray for our Countrymen who are trapped in Afghanistan during this time of peril. Please pray for our nation as we face this crisis of faith and honor. Please join me in repentance for the sin, abortion, sexual immorality, and atheism that has afflicted our country. We ask for God's mercy during this time. Feel free to add your own prayers on this subject. Thanks.
