Rep. Ted Lieu went on a rant this weekend against the Catholic Church calling U.S. bishops "hypocrites" and "nakedly partisan" for seeking to update Communion guidance that could rebuke politicians like President Biden and Speaker Nancy Pelosi for supporting abortion policies.
The Catholic California Democrat called out several Republicans, including former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Attorney General William Barr, for seemingly violating the beliefs of the Catholic Church, but not being threatened with Communion denial like pro-choice Democrats. Lieu said such hypocrisy could doom church membership.
Lieu then dared the church to deny him Communion for his political beliefs of supporting access to abortion, the right for couples to divorce, same-sex marriage and treatments for infertility.
"Next time I go to Church, I dare you to deny me Communion," Lieu tweeted.

I agree, we are being given a chance. We need churches to turn toward God instead of pleasing men.
You know, it’s almost a pity that Scripture doesn’t say something about taking the Lord’s supper in a worthy manner ... oh, wait, it does.

The church itself is at risk if it doesn’t hold its congregants to account.
The left is trying to make this political as they make everything political. The letter is not about denying Biden communion. It’s about reaffirming Christ’s presence body blood soul and divinity in the Eucharist. 2/3rds of the Bishops are on board with this reaffirmation, this reminder of what is central to Catholic faith, the source and summit of the faith.
It is outrageous the evil that the Dems do. A CNN “Catholic priest” even says what would Jesus think of people trying to hurt Biden’s chance to communion!!!!

Oh yeah?? What is the answer to priests violating “Thou shalt not kill (murder)?” as abortion is the killing of a child who is a person? And assisted suicide. And euthanasia. All against the teachings and the Bible. Outrageous.
We must not let them win. who cares if their evil side is “divided” and not in “unity” with the good people’s side?.

The Dem/popular argument about other sins like opposing immigration, capital punishment, divorce, are all irrelevant. Abortion is an intrinsic evil, the others are not. It’s the “abominable sin.” (JP2)
I never knew they were Catholic.
Considering how Newt treated his first wife, divorcing her while she was in the hospital fighting cancer, he should be denied communion anyway.
But Rep. Ted Lieu doesn’t seem to get the gravity of abortion and the optics of being a Catholic President.
For the Bishops to ignore the fact that a so called practicing Catholic President openly supports legal abortion would be to surrender to Satan millions of souls every year without a fight.
The congressman needs to read up on the Catholic teaching on "Scandal”.
This is going be an interesting test since Rep. Lieu is in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. I believe if the bishops say deny, then Rep. Lieu would test Archbishop Lopez who is the President.
