Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 96

Psalm 96

1  Sing to the Lord a new song;
    sing to the Lord, all the earth.

2  Sing to the Lord, praise his name;
    proclaim his salvation day after day.

3  Declare his glory among the nations,
    his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

4  For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
    he is to be feared above all gods.

5  For all the gods of the nations are idols,     but the Lord made the heavens.

6  Splendor and majesty are before him;
    strength and glory are in his sanctuary.

7  Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations,
    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

8  Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
    bring an offering and come into his courts.

9  Worship the Lord in the splendor of his[a] holiness;
    tremble before him, all the earth.

10  Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”
    The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved;
    he will judge the peoples with equity.

11  Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
    let the sea resound, and all that is in it.

12  Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
    let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.

13  Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes,
    he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
    and the peoples in his faithfulness.

Be Revealed.

We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our Beloved USA
We Ask That Your People Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,

To Establish His Kingdom,

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Good Morning, Prayer Warriors! Today's Psalm is another Song of Praise.

Since we are looking at Psalms as examples and vehicles for prayer, it is a good time to look at Praise, which is a very important part of one's prayer life. In fact, in Psalms, Praise is given priority. We are told to "Enter His Courts with Praise".

When we think of "Courts", we imagine a Judge, a Jury, and a bunch of lawyers. It's a scary thought, because it is an adversarial situation. Nobody would dream of entering such a court smiling, waving their arms around, and telling the Judge how wise and handsome he is. That would get you thrown out of court! Whatever role one plays in the proceedings, the proper behavior is respect and silence, unless asked a direct question by the court. It has to be that way, or it would be chaos. When a state of chaos exists, Justice will not be served. The judges are given this esteem and power by law and custom. They are human like everybody else. And, as we have seen, they can and WILL fail us sooner or later. In fact, some judges have such a bad reputation for poor rulings that lawyers pray they WON'T be assigned to that person's courtroom. (I suppose anything that gets lawyers to pray is a GOOD thing, with apologies to my dear friends in the practice who DO pray!) Anyway...that's human justice, and it has always been like that.

The Court of the Almighty God is a whole different environment. We are entering the Courtroom of The Totally Righteous and Holy Judge of The Universe, Who Created Everything that exists. He is so Magnificent that we can't even look upon Him. He has never made a poor judgement, never been surprised by anything, never been deceived, and has never deceived. His Power and Righteousness is perfectly balanced with His Mercy and Grace. We can't help but lift our voice in Praise and Awe at such Glory!
