End Times Ping

Heresy & apostasy in the Church were sure signs in Revelation that Judgement is upon the world - especially those who call themselves the “Church”.

FReemail me if you wish to be added to or removed from the End Times Ping List.

Even so, Come Lord Jesus!

If true, it explains a lot. Actually that is the heart of the problem here.

At first glance, I thought this said, “research from George Burns.” And I started thinking this had the makings of another “Oh, God” sequel.

I have met people who called themselves Christians who actually have said that God doesn’t care if they sin.

I cut ties with them after that and some other prosperity gospel nonsense.

If I read this correctly, Catholicism does not teach a biblical worldview.

Barna, as usual, is the best at this kind of survey and probably fairly accurate.

The sacred scriptures speak of a little flock on the one hand, and as many as the sands on the seashore or stars in the heavens on the other hand. When history runs its course, how many souls will have been brought into existence? How many of those will be saved from perdition? God knows. We do not. The narrow door is Jesus and He alone, because His body, soul, and sprit were given up as a sacrifice for all, from the beginning to the end of history as we know it. To fear, love, and trust in God is a biblical world view. To reject Him is to reject life.

Here are the questions they asked, and how many Americans believe them:

A) If you do good, you will receive good. If you do bad, you will receive bad 32%

B) All people pray to the same god no matter what name they use 28%

C) Meaning and purpose come from becoming one with all that is 27%

D) What is morally right depnds on what an individual believes 23%

E) Meaning and purpose come from working hard and earning as much as possible 20%

F) No one can know for certain what meaning purpose there is to life 19%

G) Businesses will not mostly do what’s right if left alone by the government 15%

I) If your beliefs offend someone or hurt their feelings, it is wrong 15%

J) The government should ensure that everyone get their fair share 14%

K) A person’s life is valuable only if society sees it as valuable 12%

L) Private property encourages greed and envy 11%

M) A belief has to be proven by science to know that it is true 10%

Some of these are pretty dubious. Sure government regulation of free enterprise is usually a bad thing, but hardly something Jesus talks about.

That sounds about right. I live in a deep red county and a poll from 2 years ago stated that only 13% of the county population attend church, and the term “church” was used very loosely. Unitarians, JWs, and Mormons would make the cut.

If anyone wants to get on the fast track to a biblical worldview, I suggest the church locator at 9Marks.org. It only lists churches that are serious about the 9 biblical characteristics of a healthy church.

We as believers can and should modify our behavior, with Jesus as our example but the nature is stuck until.....

More than that and grace becomes earned, and earned favor is not possible, other than by Christ.

Amen.

So 6% fit this denominations definition of biblical? If a different denomination held the survey they would get a different result.

13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

God DOES love us as we are. That's why Christ died for us while we were yet sinners. What folks need to realize is there is a horrific future for those who remain in sin without the One God sent for our deliverance from sin.

The three phases of salvation / deliverance from sin are Justification, Sanctification, and Glorification. ONLY God can do the first aqnd the last, but he calls us to get to work in the Sanctification phase, because there is no failure in that phase that can undo what God did in the Justiciation phase.

I don’t trust Barna Research...don’t trust their definitions of crucial words nor their questions. That said, I don’t believe many Americans are biblically literate beyond grade school level.

I would suggest that only 6% of “Christians” have a biblical worldview.

Apostasia in the Greek ONLY means departure. It is not a technical word in Greek and can mean depart from a faith or a physical departure. Looking at the verb form of the Greek word we see that aphistemi is used fifteen times in the New Testament; twelve times it refers to a physical departure and three times refers to a spiritual departure.

Apostasia is formed from a preposition, 'apos' meaning away from and 'histem' meaning to stand. The several first English translation from the Greek used The Departure when translatin Apostasia.
