Sign Of Things To Come? Amazon Drivers Forced To Sign 'Biometric Consent'

Amazon delivery drivers nationwide have to sign a "biometric consent" form this week that grants the tech behemoth permission to use AI-powered cameras to access drivers' location, movement, and biometric data.

If the company's delivery drivers, who number around 75,000 in the United States, refuse to sign these forms, they lose their jobs.

The form requires drivers to agree to facial recognition and other biometric data collection within the trucks they drive.

I guess Amazon really wants a union. Because this is how you get unions.

Probably some kind of seat sensor coming shortly....to measure your weight, and gas-releases-per-minute, and send it back to the company.

Well now that you mention it, I have lost hundreds of dollars of mail over the past few years from the USPS.

I refuse to even send a basic letter through them anymore.
Ferris knows what I’m talking about.

Those drivers can abide by the policy, form a union or quit.

I happened to be outside a few days ago when the Amazon truck showed up. I simply took the packages from him then he said, “Oh, wait a minute. I have to take photos of the delivery,” so that he placed the two packages on the walkway near the burglar bar door then took a photo of them and said, “They are watching everything these days,” then simply walked back to the truck.

Not sure about the extent of the biometrics they’re talking about, but tracking their movements makes perfect sense. That might mean fewer packages winding up at the delivery person’s friend’s house instead of the customer’s.

What if the employer requires you to show proof of Corona VAC but you don't want to get the vaccine?

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act and HIPAA no one is required to disclose medical condition to anyone. First violation of ADA can result in a fine of $75,000. Second violation $150,000 fine.

Not in my personal vehicle. They can put them in the LLV’s but not in my jeep.

The USPS needs to go that route.....

We have been fortunate to have had good and reliable regular mail delivery people the last few decades. When our regular postal guy has an off day, we seldom get any mail. Some is delivered to other neighbors and gets left in our mail box with a note.

At first, it was our word against the USPS, when something didn’t show up or get delivered. I went to a non USPS service that had storage and its own mailboxes with everything logged in and out by the service. It was amazing how quickly our mail was delivered to us and from us when I used that.

However, once outgoing mail leaves our mailman, deliveries can become random. They seem to have a problem with greeting and get well cards, here and across the nation.

The latest misstep happened this month. A church friend who lives about a half mile away was in the hospital and the card we sent to their home address for over 40 years got returned twice to us. We finally just dropped it off at their front door. There were other greeting cards laying on their welcome mat.

About a 1/3 of my wife’s midwest relatives live in a seldom get mail delivered to them or from them. Greeting cards are the worse. My wife’s senior SIL in that area collects our birthday cards, Christmas cards and ? from her local relatives and puts them in a UPS mailer and sends it via her UPS guy. It arrives in a few days. We now send similar mail to her via UPS. She delivers it to her relatives or they pick it up at the relative’s home.

My wife has basically gone to email, texting those relatives back there and phone calls.
