The Romans Road {leading to the salvation of the soul}

Posted on 03/18/2021 3:40:30 PM PDT by JAG 5000

The Romans Road is an oldie-goldie gospel tract that has been around for decades.

I mail 'em out to people at random {amazon has them}

This tract is called The Romans Road because all the Bible verses are taken from the New Testament book of Romans and there are 6 of them and they say this:

{1} Everyone Needs Salvation --Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

{2} Jesus Died For Our Salvation -- Romans 5:8 "God demonstrates His love towards us, in that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us."

{3} Salvation Is A Gift -- Romans 6:23 "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

{4} We Are Saved By Grace -- Romans 11:6 "and if by grace, then it is no longer of works: otherwise grace is no longer grace.

{5} Salvation Comes Through Faith -- Romans 4:5 "To him who ... believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness."

{6} God Saves All Who Call Upon Him. -- Romans 10:13 "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

So?

So pray this simple prayer from the heart:

"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins

and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust

and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name. Amen." __from the Billy Graham Crusades

____________________

"If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,

you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that

you profess your faith and are saved." ___The Apostle Paul Romans 10:9-10

You're taking Romans out of context.

In Romans 10, Paul is speaking at a very high level. He's not talking in details, but in concepts. Romans is not a how to book.

Too many people have been falsely taught that all you have to do is confess Jesus as Lord and you'll be saved. Jesus Himself taught against that conclusion. Paul was teaching against obeying the law for the law's sake and re-enforcing the dependence on Jesus Christ for salvation among other concepts.

Agreed. It’s also understood that baptism is necessary unto salvation. Romans 6: 4-5 speaks to being buried with Christ in baptism.

***Too many people have been falsely taught that all you have to do is confess Jesus as Lord and you’ll be saved.***

This worked for me! It shattered the bonds of religious Legalism over my life forty seven years ago!

King James Version Acts 16:31
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 10:9-10
King James Version

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

***baptism is necessary unto salvation.***

Cornelius the Centurion showed the effects of being saved and filled with the Holy Spirit before he was baptized.

Actually Cornelius showed the effects of having the Spirit come upon him. Here is a really quick and excellent study about Cornelius.

Paul never spoke against the Law. Read Romans 3:31. But he also emphasized the Law does not save. That is not its job. Jesus saves. The Law condemns and it is through this condemnation the sinner is faced with a task he is incapable of surmounting on his/her own willpower or determination. So the Law is an important part of Gods plan to bring men to Him for their salvation.

Is this the Romans Road often preached by Henry Ironside? If it is it is a very good study in salvation.

The ABCs of salvation! ...

Belief for salvation is an act of the will not the mind. The Greek word for belief (in regards to salvation) is an active word and carries with it the meaning of the will placed under the direction of The Spirit of God, to transform our behavior mechanism to conform with His righteousness imputed to us when born again, born from above.

Feeling the Holy Spirit does not mean you're saved. It's a spiritual manifestation that testifies of truth of Christ. It's meant to be a guide among other things.

In those days physical manifestations of the Holy Spirit were signs of being saved.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

As for Cornelius again...

14Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. 15And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. 16Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. 17Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

Saved first, baptized later.

But then there is this in which baptism did not save.

12But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
Didn’t work out well for him did it.

concerning PAUL,(Saul) was he pre-ordained to be saved? This was said before Paul was baptized. God obviously looked upon him as already saved.

15But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: 16For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

Before the Church Age the Holy Spirit would come 'upon' a person, come upon their mind or will or emotions. In other words, before the Church Age the Holy Spirit came upon the soul not the spirit of the man. With the birthing of The body of Christ Body of Believers God puts the seed of his Life 'in' the Believer. As Paul wrote, 'It is God Who is in you both to will and do of his good pleasure.

How does that work you might ask?

Each descendant from Adam has a spirit, a soul, and a body. The soul is fashioned as a behavior mechanism of will, mind, and emotion.

God designed the human to have an active spirit, to direct the behavior mechanism, mush like conscience but with a big difference: the spirit of the man of God should be directed by God's Spirit directing the human spirit in the way that the person should go. That is Life in the human spirit. But with the fall of our father Adam there was no Spirit of God Life in the human spirit, so every man did what was right in his own eyes and a spirit of deadness reigned in the human spirit.

By an act of the will, we are now able to hve God's Spirit Life back in our spirit. That's what the Cross accomplished, our sin-debt relationship to a Holy God was paid on His Cross and we can receive that Grace by an act of our will. The Grace of God births a person from a spirit of deadness in the human spirit to the spirit of eternal Life in our human spirit, and once born again it is God Who then abides in our new spirit man (1 John 3:9).

There is no deed we must perform to be born again, born from above. God does it all when He detects our will believing in Whom He sent for our deliverance. That act of the will is placing Faith in God's Promise and Provision for our deliverance. It is a spiritual gifting by God for God's Glory in Christ on our behalf. We just with our will accept His Grace.

It is a good idea to get Baptized, to make an outward show of the inward Grace now residing in the born again spirit. It is wise to seek His Spirit directing once in His family. Being born again is God Justifying us individually. Turning to seek His direction for our life thereafter in the flesh in His work of sanctifying our new born life. The best way to feed His new life in us is to spiritually ingest His Word.

If salvation is dependent on baptism, then Christ died for othing.

Anything you add to Christ’s finished work of atonement is what you are depending on to save you. It’s saying that Jesus Christ’s death was not enough, that we have to add to it to be saved.

What a slap in His face. If baptism is necessary, then Christ’s death was not and you might as well just skip the Jesus part and get dunked instead.

Here's the Southern cut-off.

"Christ Died for all y'all, but some y'all going to Hell anyway, cause you ain't accepted Him yet."

I came up with that after a Sunday school class where the instructor who was from the north was teaching on the word "ALL", and asked for some examples. So of course, we gave him "y'all, all y'all, and some y'all.

So what's that mean??? You get some water sprinkled on you (as a baby) and you're dead...I've never seen any one dying at a baptism...

It should be clear that if Jesus Christ himself commanded that we go and make disciples baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost that baptism is essential. It should be clear that every act of conversion in the book of acts included baptism.

Have you been baptized for the forgiveness of sins? I’m sure you have. So why the hostility against this commandment?

I hardly know where to begin in addressing your confusion and delusion about baptism. Sprinkling? A baby?

Baptism, for adults, is a full immersion for the forgiveness of sins. Paul is speaking about dying to the old self and being raised into a newness of life just as Christ died and was raised on the third day.

So Christ was lying when He time the (unbaptized) thief in the cross he would be with Him in paradise?

You are claiming that Jesus made salvation conditional. Sorry, that is a false gospel. When you add anything to what Jesus accomplished on the Cross, any act or work that a person must to adding to what Jesus offers as the Grace of God in Christ, well, you've changed the Gospel truth to a gospel of work or works.

Are you unable to see that you have used the words of Jesus, twisting them to present a different thing than Grace? You're adding at least one work making salvation conditional on tyhat one work you are speciously claiming.

Here's a thing to help you stop that false gospel thinking:

There is coming a moment world-wide when Jesus is going to transform every living Christian into a being no longer in the 4D world and then snatching them all to Him and returning to the Father's House. What you are claiming amounts to 'some will believe in their heart that Jesus is the Savior and that God raised Him from the dead, but because their belief came just before the moment God transforms The Body of Christ and these last moment believers have not had a moment to be baptized that they will be excluded from the transformational moment.

THAT is as false position because you have made Salvation conditional, conditioned upon a work the believer must do to meet the 'conditions' you are asserting Jesus puts on Salvation.

Look again at post #14. There is the truth of the Gospel of Grace.
