Elsie - that is a very good question But the bible tells us to resist false teachings.

How do we reconcile this all variance in our minds?

We can see in

2 Tim 2:1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

And 2 Thess 2:15 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

THIS, Elsie, is how we reconcile all the variance - we hold fast to what was taught by the apostles, handed down from bishop to bishop in Apostolic succession remember that John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

And 2 Thess 2:15 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

And you and your religion claim the epistles that are written are the written bible but the traditions that were unwritten is revelation other than the bible that was passed on by word of mouth until hundreds of years ago when supposedly someone in your religion started writing them down, and then somehow added to them as the Centuries passed by...

So here Paul is telling us that the written words (bible) are a matter of tradition, put to paper...What he's really telling us is to hold on to that knowledge whether someone is reading it from a bible or citing it from memory...That happens a lot in non Catholic churches...Preachers who are versed in the bible will get up there and preach the bible without having to read their sermon like the Catholics do...

But the point is, if we believe the Catholic farce that we are told to believe the written epistles OR the spoken epistles which must be different that the written epistles, we are given a choice what to hold fast to...We can reject all or even some of the written epistle (bible) and accept the Catholic ramblings that have no history...No evidence...Oddly tho, we cannot reject the spoken traditions that have no history or evidence...

we hold fast to what was taught by the apostles, handed down from bishop to bishop in Apostolic succession remember that
John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

So Jesus DID a lot of things that were not written down but did he say anything of import to us that did not get written down???

Peter and John and the rest remembered ALL things Jesus did and said...

2Pe_1:15  Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
Joh_14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

The apostles remembered EVERYTHING Jesus said but didn't write some of the important stuff down???

Your religions claim is that some of this stuff that was not written down was some serious doctrinal stuff that needed to get passed on orally by your religion...No one thought to write it down...Apparently things like Mary is actually the mother of God and she didn't have any more kids regardless of what the written traditions claim etc...But a pipe wrench fell into your gearbox when the same apostle wrote:

1Jn_5:13  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

It didn't matter to John what else Jesus did, everything Jesus said that was required for us to know for our salvation was written down by John the apostle in the written tradition (bible)...

You deceiver, you...

And I suppose that your church has knowledge of these unwritten things; right?
