Jehovah’s Witnesses Leader: COVID-19 Signals the “Last Day of the Last Days” rapture
Patheos ^ | 20 march | He meant mehta

Posted on 02/27/2021 1:36:09 PM PST by Cronos

In case you’re wondering how some religions are coping with the outbreak of COVID-19, just look to the Jehovah’s Witnesses to see how absurd reactions can get.

In a recent video featuring Governing Body member Stephen Lett, he absolutely delights in the disease because he sees it as a signal that Armageddon is imminent.

So the events unfolding around us are making clear, [more] than ever, that we’re living in the final part of the Last Days. Undoubtedly, the final part of the final part of the Last Days, shortly before the last day of the Last Days.

The Holy Spirit of God is in believers. The Holy Spirit of God cannot sin.

Some of the posts on this thread are close to blaspheming the Holy Spirit of God.

The spirit of death in a human spirit can be expelled by The Life of God coming into the spirit of the man. The Spirit of Life in a human spirit CANNOT be expelled by the rejected spirit of death.

This leads into what Paul shared about the battle of the two natures within us of course....but with that his significant and very important summation, as is written directly after describing this struggle with sin.

Romans 8: Tells us.....THEREFORE.... there is NOW no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. ..... For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did:.... sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law ‘might be’ fulfilled in us,..... who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”

So “already now” we who are in Christ have the verdict of the last judgment: Not condemned, but justified - declared righteous before God. The verdict of the last judgment was rendered in AD 33. “Already now” there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

.... And our Salvation is Secure In Him....for as is also written....”These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”.....1 John 5:13.....There is no guess work, or hopefulness in these words but an assurance of our Salvation.

Therefore when we sin it is just that... sin against God..be it done with the body, mind or any other part of the personhood of an individual......we do not cease being sinful creatures this side of heaven.....we still have a choice and a will to walk in Christ or not.

What does Jesus say?

John 3:3” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born[c] from above.”

6 What is born of flesh is flesh and what is born of spirit is spirit. 7 Do not be amazed that I told you, ‘You must be born from above.’

Note: born from above.

Stop badgering and mocking the words of Jesus. Toss aside your pre-tribulation rapturist nonsense

So clearly stated, yet the mind of death cannot and will not permit that TRUTH to penetrate because it endangers theaibiding spirit of death which is directing the spirit of those who mock and deride and badger following after the spirit of death, the same spirit with whom Israel will make a pact launching the seven years of Jacob’s Trouble.

Notice how the spirit of death responds to your succinct Truth? Mocking, deriding, and badgering, the defense mechanisms of the spirit of death in the spirit of individuals.

I think what they’re saying is that it’s true the Spirit of God does not sin nor can it.....Where the problem rises is does Jesus sacrifice cover us once and for all (sin) or doesn’t it. I believe it does.

I’m trying not to get into the debate about what part of us does sin.....it’s pretty obvious we do even after we’re Born Again. But it’s equally obvious we can struggle with sin and that’s the struggle between our nature and the nature of God. Desiring His will above our own.

I see it. Expected no less. Some don’t want to let God be true and every man a liar. Instead, they just want to be right.

It’s a pride THANG.

Clarke’s commentary:
1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Whosoever is born of God - Γεγεννημενος, Begotten of God, doth not commit sin: “that is,” say some, “as he used to do, he does not sin habitually as he formerly did.

So??? Who cares what SOME SAY??? What does God say???

New American Standard Bible
No one who has been born of God practices sin, because His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin continually, because he has been born of God.

Really??? Can't sin continually but just once in a while??? How often???

English Standard Version
No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.

Well there you go...Can not keep on sinning...

You had better look at other versions. You are wrong. The Cupie doll is mine.

Really??? The KJV uses poieō which translated means 'commit'...A person can no longer commit sin...

You want it to say does not continue to sin...That would require prasso (which isn't there) which translated means 'perform repeatedly or habitually'...So which Lexicon do you find that word in???

But now for a little honesty...Most of the bibles who use the same Greek texts as you are referencing have the following or similar translations:

Christian Standard Bible
Everyone who has been born of God does not sin, because his seed remains in him; he is not able to sin, because he has been born of God.

Holman Christian Standard Bible
Everyone who has been born of God does not sin, because His seed remains in him; he is not able to sin, because he has been born of God. American Standard Version Whosoever is begotten of God doeth no sin, because his seed abideth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is begotten of God.

Douay-Rheims Bible
Whosoever is born of God, commmitteth not sin: for his seed abideth in him, and he can not sin, because he is born of God.

Catholic Public Domain Version
All those who have been born of God do not commit sin. For the offspring of God abides in them, and he is not able to sin, because he was born of God.

Aramaic Bible in Plain English
No one who is begotten from God commits sin, because his seed is in him and he is not able to sin because he has been begotten from God.

I think your use of the words....” Spirit of Life and Spirit of Death”...can appear distracting for some.

well if it’s not we that sin what is it ? Because we obviously do not have perfection this side of heaven....and we still have our old nature getting in the way of our new nature in Christ.

Barnes's Notes:

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin -

If it can be used as referring to the doctrine of absolute perfection at all, it proves, not that Christians may be perfect, or that a "portion" of them are, but that all are.

But who can maintain this? Who can believe that John meant to affirm this? Nothing can be clearer than that the passage has not this meaning, and that John did not teach a doctrine so contrary to the current strain of the Scriptures, and to fact
and if he did not teach this, then in this whole passage he refers to those who are habitually and characteristically righteous.

BUSTED!

So like you, Barnes doesn't believe the scriptures and that's supposed to mean something to someone??? At least, hopefully, he was able to get some of the milk of the word...

Well there was a time when we too were in that state of mind....but frankly didn’t know it. What we did know was when we were drawn to seek or learn what the truth is....and we’re actually still learning and will until He comes.

So what do you make of the passage that tells us Israel makes a pact with death to begin the seven years of the tribulation / time of Jacob’s Trouble? Satan is the spirit of death. The satan directs the unregenerate via his spirit of death operating in the human spirit. Jesus referred to this spirit of death in the unregenerate when He was confronted by the man who wanted to go bury his father before joining himself to the disciples: “let the dead go bury the dead” the spirit of antichrist is the spirit of death. That spirit is destined for the lake of fire ... and if that spirit is in a human spirit, it too will end up in the lake of fire due to the presence of death in that human spirit.
