Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Lambs, Sheep, and Shepherds
.
1 Chronicles 5:18-22
18 The Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh had 44,760 men ready for military service—able-bodied men who could handle shield and sword, who could use a bow, and who were trained for battle. 19 They waged war against the Hagrites, Jetur, Naphish and Nodab. 20 They were helped in fighting them, and God delivered the Hagrites and all their allies into their hands, because they cried out to him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in him. 21 They seized the livestock of the Hagrites—fifty thousand camels, two hundred fifty thousand sheep and two thousand donkeys. They also took one hundred thousand people captive, 22 and many others fell slain, because the battle was God’s. And they occupied the land until the exile.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD of Hosts,
Our God and Our King,
You are the Commander in Chief of the Universe.
You Speak the Cosmos into Existence.
You Create with Your Word,
And Hold ALL things Together with Your Command.
We ask You to Revive the Soul of America
And lead us in paths of Righteousness for Your Name's sake.
Give us Leaders who honor Your Word,
And for whom their word is their bond.
We Know that you are with us.
We gladly accept the yoke of discipleship,
Because we know that Your Burden is easy and Your Yoke is light.
Our enemies surround us, But You identify them and anoint us to stand tall.
We Know You are with us, and Will be forever, in this world and the next.
LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.
We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 36
To the leader. Of David, the servant of the Lord.
1 Transgression speaks to the wicked
deep in their hearts;
there is no fear of God
before their eyes.
2 For they flatter themselves in their own eyes
that their iniquity cannot be found out and hated.
3 The words of their mouths are mischief and deceit;
they have ceased to act wisely and do good.
4 They plot mischief while on their beds;
they are set on a way that is not good;
they do not reject evil.
5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
your judgements are like the great deep;
you save humans and animals alike, O Lord.
7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
8 They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
9 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.
10 O continue your steadfast love to those who know you,
and your salvation to the upright of heart!
11 Do not let the foot of the arrogant tread on me,
or the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 There the evildoers lie prostrate;
they are thrust down, unable to rise.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

A lot of people, when reading the Bible for the first time, start out with Genesis 1:1 and attempt to plow through all the way to the last word in the Book of Revelation (which happens to be "AMEN!"). If they manage to make it all the way through to the end of 2 Kings, a sigh of relief comes with:
"Good! Now I can start reading the mighty words of Psalms, or maybe even the Prophet Isaiah!"
Then, the new reader turns the page and is confronted by 1st and 2nd Chronicles.
"But it's the same story I just read!" What's going on here?"
The two books immediately following 1st and 2nd Kings may SEEM the same, but have different purposes. The Books of Samuel and Kings tell the History leading up to Exile in Babylon. Some Bible Scholars see 1st and 2nd Chronicles as having been written DURING the Exile so that people would not lose sight of their Heritage. This is supported by the seemingly endless genealogies that open the Book. It is an incredible monument to Faith that the people would eventually return to Jerusalem, and would need Foundational Documents to set everything up again. Once again, this idea is supported by the Books of Ezra and Nehemiah in the scenes where the People are gathered to HEAR the WORD.
Today's Passage popped up in my Daily Devotional Reading, as I am now in 1st Chronicles. Right in the midst of a genealogy, we have this story. It's about a battle which probably never made any History Books. The booty taken is mostly livestock, and some human captives. But that is not the gist of the story.
The Warriors "Cried out to God, because they trusted in Him".
God heard their prayer, and gave them victory, "because the battle was God’s."
Something to remember in these difficult times.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
