According to investigators, Vitaly Antipov had tried to set fire the police station in the town of Kukmor in Eastern Russia on Friday.
The 16-year-old threw two Molotov cocktails at the station before stabbing an officer three times in the hip and arm.
Another police officer fired warning shots into the air before being forced to open fire.
Antipov was hit with six bullets after a dozen shots were fired.
The teenager had died of his wounds before medics arrived on the scene.
Antipov was reported to be from the Altai region in Siberia where he had a job working in a halal cafe.
Russia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case.
In a chilling video revealed by BAZA media Antipov said how he intended to destroy a cafe which he saw as sinful and “devilish”.
It is unclear why he instead targeted a police station.
Filmed as he walked in darkness to the scene the 16-year-old, whose mother is reportedly a devout Muslim, said: “May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be with you…
“I'm now going, to blow up... or I mean to burn a cafe, where they…listen to music…
“A club where they sell alcohol.…
“Such a vile, devilish place. Inshallah, it will be destroyed.”
The incident comes just one day after an Islamic terror attack in France.
Three people were killed in a Roman Catholic church in Nice yesterday morning by Tunisian migrant Brahim Aoussaoui.
Sacristan Vincent Loquès, 54, had his throat slit as he prepared for the first Mass of the day, while one woman was found partially beheaded near the holy water font.
Brazilian-born Simone Barreto Silva, 44, fled the carnage inside the church and ran into a nearby cafe, where she died of her injuries after telling paramedics: "Tell my children that I love them".
Elsewhere, there have been at least three other incidents as French president Emmanuel Macron described his country as "under attack".
In Avignon, a far-right knifeman was also shot dead by cops and a security guard was stabbed at the French consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as France was rocked by a day of violence.
Samuel Paty, 47, was beheaded by 18-year-old Abdullah Anzorov on October 17 after using the cartoons to teach his students about the importance of free speech.
Emmanuel Macron's government had moved the terror alert level to the highest "emergency" level.
Macron denounced the Nice bloodbath as an "Islamic terror attack" and defiantly said the nation would not "give up on our values".
The president announced up to 7,000 soldiers will be deployed to the streets across France in the wake of the violence to protect landmarks, schools and places of worships.
It comes amid heightened security fears in France due to an ongoing row over cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed published by satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.
Putin's "goddaughter" Ksenia Sobchak, 38, was threatened with beheading after voicing her support for her "hero" Macron.
Sobchak, a TV star and ex-presidential election candidate, faced a furious backlash after defending the French president.
