A Permissive Pope for a Permissive Age

Whatever he is up to, it is not saving souls.

Jorge Bergoglio’s pontificate beyond parody continues apace. The latest papal farce revolves around his reiteration of support for homosexual civil unions. In a new documentary, Pope Francis says that homosexuals “have a right to a family. Nobody should be thrown out or be made miserable over it. What we have to have is a civil union law — that way they are legally covered. I supported that.”

Previous popes hated the sin and loved the sinner. Pope Francis shrugs at the sin and doesn’t trouble himself with the soul of the sinner.

Treated as thrillingly new — headlines giddily spoke of the “first” papal endorsement of gay civil unions ever — the pope’s remarks represented merely a restatement of a position he had taken as archbishop of Buenos Aires.

“He explicitly permitted a homosexual couple to adopt a child,” recalled the renegade liberation theologian Leonardo Boff after Bergoglio’s election. Boff pointed to that as one of the reasons he had confidence that Bergoglio’s papacy would prove revolutionary.

If this guy was arrested and charged with being a Christian, there wouldn’t be enough evidence to convict him.

Wide is the gate, and broad is the path, that leads to destruction. Pretty sure I read something like that somewhere...

Pope Benedict the XVI is still alive, 7 years after he left the Papacy for “health reasons.” When was the last time something similar occurred? 800 years ago?

Its clear to me, Jorge Mario Bergoglio was installed in some kind of quiet coup.

And if that’s true, then he was installed for a very clear purpose and ideology.

And if that’s true, he’s not the Pope. Which is my contention.

So god approves of sin now? I think the pope might be praying to the wrong one.

“Permissive” is hardly the word I would use.....
when we decline to hate the sin... and sinfulness..... that’s the same as advocating......

I’m surprised that Catholics haven’t dumped him.

Can they do that?

Headline—
“Vicar of Christ Demoted- Wasn’t ‘All that Christ-like After All”

Then —
“New Image of God in the Works”

"New Image of God in the Works"

Yesterdays God abhorred sin. Today's god tolerates it. Tomorrow's approves of it. The next will demand it with everything. The slippery slope from the real God to a false one.

You said, “The next will demand it with everything. “

Someone once gave me an excellent description of “religion”.

“religion” either:
1. Tolerates sin
2. Ignores sin
Or,
3. Promotes sin.

Christianity is not a “religion” it is a relationship with the son of God – Jesus Christ!

In that sense, God himself is not religious, which I agree with. Religion is designed by mankind for mankind. At best, it keeps us from sliding back into sin. At worst, it’s no better than any of our tribal behaviors, separating us into competing clans.
