...The two attacks on opposite sides of Africa are among the scores of violent episodes to shake the continent in what experts are calling a breakout year for extremist groups affiliated with al-Qaeda or the Islamic State. ....
The spike in terrorist attacks mirrors a steady, if less dramatic, increase in Islamist violence in parts of Syria and Iraq, driven by Islamic State fighters who slipped away after the caliphates defeat and have now regrouped....
The resurgence threatens to undermine one facet of President Trumps reelection pitch to voters: his oft-repeated claim of victory over the Islamic State. ...The rise in violence comes as the Trump administration moves to slash U.S. troop deployments and threatens to curtail support for local governments on the front lines of the battle against Islamist militants.....
We destroyed the caliphate, but theyre now popping up in numerous places. Meanwhile, the worldwide coalition to fight ISIS doesnt really exist anymore......
since the fall of the Islamic States last Syrian stronghold, the groups African affiliates have seen dramatic gains in territory and recruits, as well as in firepower, according to a study published in August in CTC Sentinel, a journal published by the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point....
Instead of an asymmetric, opportunistic insurgency, its large numbers of fighters, attacking large numbers of soldiers using weapons that are of a similar or greater caliber,.....
But even as U.S. and allied forces tightened the noose on Baghdadis followers in Iraq and Syria, other White House policies undermined the effort to defeat violent Islamist militant ideology globally,....
Trumps anti-Islam rhetoric and ban on Muslim immigrants handed the militants a propaganda win, reinforcing a fundamental al-Qaeda message, which is that America is against Islam,....

In the ME not world wide.
Just keep them out of THIS country.
FUWP
Wasn’t ISIS funded by Obama and Biden?
Even the most insignificant Islamist movements worldwide are re-branding themselves IS for fundraising and recruitment purposes. But what distinguished IS from these other bothersome gnats was the fact that IS came close to becoming the government in Iraq and Syria via armed conquest. Nothing like that is happening in Africa.
Yes, cause rolling over really appeases Islam doesn’t it?
Close down Minnesoda and Dearbornistan, Michigan.
Great, have a foreign policy debate and see who America chooses. These articles are the equivalent of a drive by shooting. They refuse to have the debate
Thats going to come back to haunt us, ....
It takes a special kind of idiot to think that in order to keep Islamic terrorists from getting mad at us, we have to let unlimited numbers of them into our country. The foolish appeasers out there need to understand only one fact: Muslims want to attack us because we are not Muslim. Simple as that.
Hey WashPoo, mostly peaceful demonstrations....
2017-2020. What is the map for 2020?
It’s like when they count positive cases from June 2020 as “new covid cases in October!”.
To have a Caliphate, at least two things are required under Sharia:
1. An openly declared Caliph. (Abu Bakr al Baghdadi is dead, and no one now openly claims the title)
2. Exert sovereignty over some territory. (ISIS no longer does)
There is no longer a Caliphate. They are just another bandit terrorist organization.
“Wasnt ISIS funded by Obama and Biden?”
No - they funded and armed “freedom fighters” - who then surrendered their weapons and equipment to ISIS.
Supposedly, a very different thing...
Dems or MSM likely funding these attacks in order to harm Trump. Put nothing past these enemies.
We can assume that Islamist attacks did occur during the Caliphate. But, did any Islamist attacks, whatsoever, occur before the Caliphate? If the answer is yes, then the fact of a Caliphate being present has zero bearing on whether attacks occur or not, in which case, the title swings and misses at Trump. As can be expected from this particular propaganda rag.
The isis caliphate is dead as is Baghdadi...of course there are and will be an unending supply of these moronic terrorists....Trump and his policies destroyed the caliphate....
