Axios!
Amen!
Thanks for the response. No, I never saw that movie. Don’t know why, just never got around to it, I guess. So, what does “Merrin” mean?
His name is Father Merrin.
He defeated the demon who possessed a boy in an African village 10 years earlier and the demon wanted to go another round. So he possesses a girl from America with a mom who is a popular actress (in the movie and in real life)
Funny thing about the movie, people fainted and threw up in the theaters in the 70s and smelling salts had to be on hand and paramedics waited near the theaters.
People went back to church in big numbers.
I don’t know if it lasted for many but it’s just a fun historical tidbit :)
I think it’s a pretty scary movie/
It is not like today’s movies where you get the demon’s opinion on things. He is an unGodly monster whose cruelty knows no bounds and you can feel his hate and utter contempt for God from the things he says though the girl’s voice.
There’s foul language and some shocking desecration scenes.
In the end it’s just a movie.
But it does powerfully get across how self loathing and hateful and tormented and horrific satan is.
Of course not all believe in satan and that is certainly thir prerogative. OK i’m done :)
