Months after posting her photo of New Year's prayers in a church in Canada announcing her conversion to Christianity, Saudi Fayza Almtery has stirred online debate once again after sharing photos from her wedding ceremony held in an Orthodox Church.
Almtery, who calls her self a Saudi feminist and an ex-Muslim, took to Twitter posting photos of her wedding, explaining that she got married in 2019 but didn't want to announce it on social media until she felt safe to do so because Saudi Arabia forbids religious conversion from Islam and punishes it by death.
Translation: "I'd like to thank all of those congratulating me, I wish I could invite you all to attend but I was afraid you'd get too excited and fire some celebratory gun shots."
Responding to a few questions from her followers, Fayza explained that her husband isn't a Saudi and that she's happily leading the kind of free life she's always wished to have.
Photos of the Church wedding received mixed reactions from social media users; many commentators congratulated her and wished her a happy life and expressed their support for her choice to live in a western country for the freedoms she can enjoy as opposed to her life back in Saudi Arabia.
Others accused Almtery of "offending Islam and taking a step backward by choosing to become a Christian".

I’ve seen many women wear a jeweled tiara, but never an actual crown.
Is that a part of this orthodox Christian faith?
She should have resisted the impulse to put everything online for the public. Muslim sentiment against anything Christian is not known for changing very quickly if ever.

Crowns for bride and groom are part of the Orthodox wedding ceremony.
She left the religion a sanctioned rape, slavery, murder, and plunder.
There are new and unheralded Martyrs created all the time in that part of the world. In America, we are more accustomed to reading about the Christian Martyrs of the Middle Ages.

After prayers are offered on their behalf, the groom and bride are crowned by the priest “In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”:
O Lord, our God, crown them in glory and in honour.
The crowns have two meanings.
1. they reveal that the man and woman, in their union with Christ, participate in His Kingship.
2. as in the ancient Church, crowns are a symbol of martyrdom.
The word “martyr” means witness. The common life of the bride and groom is to bear witness to the Presence of Christ in their lives and in the world. Martyrdom is usually associated with death. So the reality of God’s Kingdom in the life of the husband and wife will necessarily take the form of dying to one’s self, to one’s will, and the giving of one’s life totally to the other, and through the other, to Christ.

My son and dil were married in a Maronite Catholic Church (Lebanese). A crown was placed on both their heads near the end of the ceremony.
She is brave to be so public about this, as the penalty for apostasy in Islam is death, and there is a significant enough percentage of Muslims who are serious about it. It’s one of those things the “Religion of Peace” crowd ignore and don’t want to talk about.

Cronos answered very thoroughly, I can only add regarding the two meanings:
1) Sharing with the kingship of Christ also implicit of ruling over a small portion of His Creation, namely one’s household—in a sense a return to the innocence of Eden.
2) Martyrdom comes in many forms, including the self-surrender of the wife being subject to her husband, but even more through the husband loving his wife “as Christ loved the Church”. The entire section on mutual submission is ALWAYS the Epistle read in the Orthodox Sacrament of Marriage.

Yes. During the wedding ceremony bride and groom wear crowns for at least part of it.

Their so called holy book calls for the out right murder of non-believers of their so called religion. It is a cult of death. Kill yourself to kill nonbelievers in their cult. The only, ONLY way you can make sure you are going to “heaven” in their religion is to murder yourself while murdering nonbelievers in their religion. Believers in the LORD Jesus Christ KNOW they are going to Heaven when they SIMPLY BELIEVE in the LORD Jesus Christ. Repent your sins and call on Him to forgive you of those sins. Boom, you are accepted into His family. Just like that!!! Believe. On Faith. That’s it. No need to kill yourself and others to get to their heaven. Believe on the LORD Jesus Christ folks. All your prayers concerning heaven and eternity are answered. You KNOW where you are going when you die. To be with HIM!!!!!
