Vaticanist Antonio Socci said that the virus has revealed the great hypocrisy of the progressive Church in that while Pope Francis said that the shepherd must take the smell of the sheep, he and other shepherds have holed themselves up and have decided to stay well clear of the sheep and their breath.
The other slogan from Bergoglio was the church is a field hospital. And here, as soon as the epidemic broke out, traces of this field hospital are totally lost, he wrote.
Socci said that the situation was completely confusing for Catholics, who feel as if they have been abandoned by those who should be their pastors.
Socci also said in another piece that closing down all public Masses teaches that in misfortune it is better to leave God behind, because He is of no use.
Archbishop Viganò: I totally disagree with the measures taken by the Church in Italy.
The Archbishop is known for having published in 2018 a report accusing Pope Francis of ignoring Pope Benedict XVI's earlier restrictions on then-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick on account of McCarricks preying upon and abuse of seminarians. Viganò said at that time that Francis should resign.

On the bright side, my local parish has set up a youtube account and is livestreaming daily Mass.
Gotta keep those coffers filled.
I feel for the elderly parishioners who dont use internet and who spend hours in Church as Anna and Simeon did in the temple as recorded in the Gospel of Luke. Church is the first and last place such Heaven-minded souls like theirs like to be. And their prayers lift us all up and have more power to heal than anything the world clings to or idolizes.
I misread that at first and thought it read he was against :shutting down the Masters”
Yes, I agree. This is a terrible and lonely time to be elderly and my heart breaks for them. But at the same time, when I was watching Mass on tv last week (my diocese did not suspend Masses until today although they dispensed us from our obligation, and as I take care of two fragile elderly parents, I took them up on that dispensation), I noticed that there were a significant number of young parents who brought their children commingling with the elderly who went to Mass anyway, and that made me worry for the elderly given that children seem to be asymptomatic spreaders of this disease.
Our churches in my diocese remain open for those who wish to pray, as long as they maintain distance. Maybe, like some of the supermarkets, they should hold an “elderly only” Mass or at least Liturgy of the Word so that the older folks can continue to go as long as they keep their distance. We do fortunately have Mass multiple times daily on Catholic Faith Network on our cable systems here, and it’s part of the very basic package, so nearly all older folks have it.
AMEN!!! WE NEED MASS AND HOLY COMMUNION AND CONFESSION!!!
Thank you. Glad Im not alone Im feeling this way.
This is something all churches should do.
I agree with Archbishop Vigano.
Likewise, but daily Mass as usual.
What? Who??
Elderly Only Masses seems like a good idea. I will suggest it to my pastor and to the Bishop of Knoxville diocese.
From Ann Barnhart’s web page:
For each Mass we hear with devotion, Our Lord sends a saint to comfort us at death. (revelation of Christ to St. Gertrude the Great)
St. Padre Pio, the stigmatic priest, said, Every Holy Mass, heard with devotion, produces in our souls marvelous effects, abundant spiritual and material graces, which we, ourselves, do not know. It is easier for the earth to exist without the sun than without the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
St. John Vianney said that if we knew the value of the Mass, we would die of joy.
Your prayers are strongest at the Consecration in Holy Mass (raising of the Host and Chalice).
Each time we look at The Most Blessed Sacrament our place in heaven is raised forever (revealed by Our Lord to St. Gertrude the Great).
The Holy Mass would be of greater profit if people had it offered in their lifetime, rather than having it celebrated for the relief of their souls after death. (Pope Benedict XV)
Once, St. Teresa of Avila was overwhelmed with Gods Goodness and asked Our Lord: How can I thank You? Our Lord replied, ATTEND ONE MASS.
The Blessed Virgin Mary once told her faithful servant, Blessed Alain: My Son so loves those who assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass that, if it were necessary, He would die for them as many times as they have heard Masses.
Its such a hard dilemma :(.
I bet in South Korea there was just this understanding that people would be coming to church wearing masks, and only taking them off during communion...and that the church be extra sanitized etc...
But here we dont even have enough masks to go around. *sigh*
