“Devout” Christians of any denomination don’t rape 19-year-old hotel staffers.

>> Why so angry? <<

If you think my comments are “so angry” compared to anything else on FR, what does that say about your inferencing?

>> Kobe had seen one too many Dogfart Black Guys Gang Bang a White Girl <<

Oh, OK... so if he saw it on a porn video, that makes it OK.

So where would you judges of men’s souls be putting him if he hadn’t been to mass for a week?

>> This happened what, 16 years ago? You sound like a bitter clinger to me. Let it go dude. Live your life, look inside YOUR heart and stop being a judgemental prude who doesn’t value present day actions, but can only finger point at things that happened decades ago. <<

So, you’re here to defend a rapist, but you presume I’M a bitter clinger and a judgmental prude. Say, you’re still making your arguments 16 years later (for the same reason I am... it’s in the news again), what does that say about YOU?

I’ll rephrase.

“So if he saw it on a porn video, that means it wasn’t a crime?”

I’m explaining the way these guys think

The legality was up to a trial

But she refused to testify

So we’ll never know will we ?

The legality

I think it was consensual that got too rough due to his preconceived notions about white girls who throw themselves at black males

You think he jumped her and raped her

Difference of opinion

One is boorish possibly battery and the other rape

Never gonna know

Yeah, i get it. You’re some sort of moral scold. If i didn’t know better I’d say you’re a troll. 16 years ago. Actions since then mean nothing in your world? I’d be interested to hear your opinion of President Trump given his past ethical lapses.

Devout Christians have committed rapes, murders, robberies, you name it. The apostle Paul. King David (thought not technically a Christian). Millions of others. All men of God. Christ did come to save sinners after all.

You’re to be congratulated on your blameless life.

King David was not a Christian. Are you really that ignorant?

You dont get the analogy? David was a man after Gods own heart yet he screwed up royally. That didnt mean he did not return to God. But he paid dearly for his mistakes.

No. But he was a man after Gods own heart. He messed up badly. Yet came back to God. No ones perfect.

Kobe and his daughter attended 7am mass on Sunday morning and both received communion. Then headed for the airport.

“The apostle Paul. King David”

Just to clarify. The Apostle Paul was NOT a Christian when he approved of the murder and persecution of God’s people. Once Paul became a Christian, he never harmed anyone and would never approve of murder.

And King David was a man after God’s heart. But he lived years before Jesus, the Saviour, was born. And therefore, King David DID NOT HAVE the abiding, inward-filling of the Holy Ghost. So his life was without the saving power of Jesus Christ.

Even John the Baptist said he only baptized with water, but Jesus would baptize with the Holy Ghost.

Jesus brought the New Covenant with new promises from God: “I will put My law within their hearts and write them on their minds.”

The New Covenant is far better and superior to what those in the Old Covenant had. What happened during Old Testament days is definitely not the example which present-day Christians live by. The example now is Jesus Christ. And though no one is perfect as He was, yet with His Spirit living within and giving His help day by day, Christians press toward the mark of His holy high calling (and certainly not towards “rapes, murders, robberies” as you claim devout Christians have done).

You are confusing the actions of those who lived before the salvation of Jesus Christ and filling of His Spirit in their lives.

I hope that it is true that went to Mass the morning of his death and I sincerely hope that he had his soul in order when he died. That said, I also hope that this rapist burned to death in miserable agony. However long it took, it was too quick.

It's amazing to me how so many otherwise conservative people on this board will give every benefit of the doubt to professional athletes for crimes they would otherwise lynch someone for committing. Bunch of celebrity worshiping hypocrites. I won't be surprised to hear similarly loving eulogies for the murderer O.J. Simpson when he finally dies of old age.

I have no idea what this has to do with the subject at hand. Bottom line, Kobe Bryant professed to be a Christian, and I believe him. I don’t know WHEN he became a Christian, and really don’t care. The point is, God forgives sin, and if He forgives sinners then who am I or any of us to cast judgement?

It has everything to do with the words you yourself posted. I was not commenting on Kobe’s spiritual life. I hope he is with the Lord right now in heaven.

If you read again what I said, I was only commenting on your words (Devout Christians commit murders, etc.) and clarifying that the actions of those you referred to were done without the saving life of Jesus Christ living within them by His Spirit. King David lived before the New Covenant which Jesus ushered in.

And the Apostle Paul became a totally different man once he was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost. Paul was not perfect, but after being saved he never committed nor would ever approve of Christians doing any of those things you mentioned. He preached the truth — that Jesus died for our sins, rose again, and fills us with His Spirit so that we can live our lives pleasing to God.

In fact, the Apostle John said, “Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” (I John 3:15)

Again, I was not commenting on Kobe’s life. My hope for Kobe and those other people is that they are presently with the Lord in heaven. I was only referring to your words about devout Christians. Hope you understand this now.

Devout Christians sin. Every day. And there is no magnitude or gradient for sin. In God’s eyes all sins are equal.
