WTF? This type of behavior on the part of pastors happens all across America and the congregations never beat up the pastors, they just give ever more tithing like good sheep.
Please note, I do NOT believe this of all Pastors, but sadly there are many across the spectrum that are charlatans.

Best career advice I got was at my first real job. My supervisor had an off site meeting for his crew. I drove my restored sports car to the meeting at a McDonald's off the interstate. About twenty of us with territories covering three states.
He said, "Never drive a car that is nicer than the head manager of the company" I found this to be absolutely correct. Drive a beater if you must, but don't out-do your boss. It just looks bad on many levels.
